Release Manager
The Person:
The Release Manager is responsible for the release management lifecycle, focusing on coordinating various aspects of production and projects into an integrated solution. They are responsible for ensuring that resources, timelines, and the overall quality of the process are all considered and accounted for. The Release Manager will be involved in and help coordinate planning, tracking, risk management, testing, communication, and release/deployment as it relates to the existing production system. The Release Manager must have strong leadership skills to lead cross-functional teams in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment with the ability to maintain discipline and focus on our business goals and system stability.
The Job:
- Own the Release Management lifecycle, including scheduling release windows, cycles, and post-release support. Releases may be inclusive of application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades, projects and programs, etc.
- Key Release Management areas of responsibility:
- Release planning: design release guidelines that should be implemented across Elevate K-12.
- Configuring releases: oversee the various aspects of a project before it is due to be deployed, ensuring all teams are on track and meeting the agreed guidelines.
- Quality Checks: Ensure Quality Assurance teams know the guidelines of the production project and will check that these standards are met before releasing.
- Deployment: responsible for ensuring a project is launched into production smoothly and efficiently.
- Manage production release scope, risks, issues, and communications
- Responsible for implementing and managing release processes for code through development, test, and production environments
- Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business go/no-go review
- Ensure releases are delivered within requirements
- Manage relationships and coordinate production projects, milestones and dependencies between teams
- Interface and communicate with Testing, Development, Architecture, Infrastructure, Project Management, Business Operations, Customer Service and more on a daily basis
- Measure and monitor production and release progress
- Provide reporting to senior Business and IT leadership
- Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
This is a 1099 independent contractor position.
What you will need:
- Background in Release and Project Management
- Ability to coordinate multiple teams to ensure tasks are completed on time with the release schedule
- Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
- Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal
- Problem-solving
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 3-8 years of previous release and/or project management experience, (Solid understanding of project management principles preferred)
- 8-10 years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development
- Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
- Interpersonal and consultative skills

- Detail-oriented and capable of delivering a high level of accuracy
