Description
The Scrum Master is a servant-leader for the Scrum Team, helping teams deliver value to the organization consistently and transparently.
As a successful Scrum Master at Donnelley Financial Solutions you will:
- Have experience helping teams develop and evolve agile practices in environments where agile is not fully understood or practiced.
- Demonstrate proficiency in extracting value out of scrum beyond running ceremonies and creating burn-down charts. Embodies the agile mindset.
- Be highly empathic while driving change forward.
- Evangelize continuous improvement. Helping teams define and track metrics to highlight bottlenecks, blocks or impediments to delivering value.
- Be passionate about creating successful teams and high trust environments.
Responsibilities
The Scrum Master serves the Development Team in several ways, including:
- Coaching the Development Team in self-organization, cross-functionality, and continuous improvement;
- Removing impediments to the Development Team's progress and creating an environment for success;
- Facilitating scrum ceremonies, including grooming, planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
- Helping the Development Team to create high-value products at a consistent cadence;
The Scrum Master serves the Product Owner in several ways, including:
- Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team as well as possible;
- Teaching techniques for effective Product Backlog management, including prioritizing to maximize value;
- Facilitating the establishment of a clear and concise Product Backlog items;
- Coaching agile product planning in an empirical environment;
The Scrum Master serves the organization in several ways, including:
- Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development;
- Causing change that increases the productivity of the Scrum Team;
- Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization
Qualifications
- 3+ years' experience in a Scrum Master role.
- Commitment to continual improvement – Must continually be growing one's craft by learning new practices and techniques to better serve your teams.
- Commitment to empiricism – Must help teams bring transparency to the Scrum Artifacts so that teams can inspect and adapt their work and progress towards their Sprint Goal continuously.
- Nice to Have Certifications:
- Professional Scrum Master (PSM) I, II, or III – Scrum.org
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) – Scrum Alliance
