The Senior Director, Program Management is responsible for delivering on programs, company initiatives,  and leading change management that ensures Upwork is able to execute on its strategic plan and mission with a high degree of operational effectiveness. In this role, you will work with senior leaders and collaborators across the business to translate cutting-edge practices and our strategic roadmap into delivered initiatives that will guide the way that Upwork scales and impact the way that our important work gets accomplished by every employee and freelancer.  You are someone who is proficient with agile/lean/quality methodologies and can effectively manage multiple teams towards success launch and implementation of corporate-wide programs. You love to solve complex problems and set strategy but don’t hesitate to roll up your sleeves to ensure that important work gets done.

Your Responsibilities:

• Drive improvements in the entire processes or systems ensuring alignment with key imperatives and core strategies of the organization
• Coach, direct and mentor matrixed teams to deliver innovative, world-class programs and methods across Upwork
• Engage and partner with Company leaders on innovative operational strategies and the roadmap
• Drive on-time delivery and execution of key projects and programs while maintaining high quality and high site uptime
• Develop and improve programs. Drive continuous improvement in success metrics and in launched programs and services
• Identify program and operational problems and collaborate to create innovative solutions that measurably improve those identified areas
• Work with internal collaborators to create/evaluate tools that enable you to maximize employee and freelancer effectiveness

What it takes to catch our eye:

• Progressive management experience hiring, developing, and leading teams (virtual and direct-managed) to deliver on major initiatives in a high-growth technology company
• A demonstrated track record of driving complex companywide program initiatives with agile mindset and proven methodologies
• Demonstrable experience of delivering initiatives within tight deadlines, in collaboration with multiple partner groups and contending priorities
• Experience driving large, scalable projects and programs against timelines and within budget
• Deep appreciation of Upwork’s mission and impac
