CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:
Under general direction, plans, executes, develop solutions, delivers progress reports, and finalizes projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan and maintain a system of record documenting additions and modifications to the as-built architecture of the data center. Also, defines the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. Performs related duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Defines project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Acts as liaison with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis. Sets and manages project expectations with team members. Plans and schedules project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Tracks project milestones and deliverables. Determines the frequency and content of status reports from the project team and analyzes the results and troubleshoots the problem areas. Defines the project success criteria. Conducts project post mortems and creates a recommendation report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
 
Estimates the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. Directs and manages the project development from beginning to end. Delegate’s task and responsibilities to appropriate personnel. Identifies and resolves issues and conflicts within the project team. Determines and assesses the need for additional staff and/or consultants. Leads the development, management and maintenance of all security systems and their associated software, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, backups and anti-virus software. Manages changes in project scope, identifies potential crises and devises contingency plans. Coaches, mentors, and supervises project team members and contractors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of 7 years in project management is required; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Certifications in Project Management and/or Computer Network Administration is preferred.  License requirement: Illinois Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the management processes in a variety of settings and the ability to apply this knowledge to the development of innovative solutions to problems in the design and implementation process. Professional knowledge of management principles and practices. Knowledge of computer methods and techniques. Excellent knowledge of software programs such as MS Office Suite and Oracle Suite. Strong knowledge of programming languages including Linux. Database and operating systems skills with MS SQL, Oracle.  Working knowledge of current internet technologies, including Cloud Computing, Firewall Security, MS Exchange online and other advance technologies. Ability to manage successfully the design and implementation process for large and complex projects within demanding time and cost constraints. Demonstrated ability to manage project budget in design and implementation. Demonstrated ability to manage project schedules. Ability to effectively prioritize. Excellent customer service skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong written and communication skills.
