Position Summary:
- Design, propose, document, & implement current best practice network security designs.
- Configure, install, and troubleshoot Checkpoint & Palo Alto devices.
- Use familiarity with PCI, HIPAA, SOX, or other compliance requirements to guide new designs.
- Help design or diagnose issues where firewalls, IPS, proxy, and load balancing devices interoperate together in the network communications path.
- Interface with vendors, clients, and users to correctly design security solutions.
Skills Required:
- Candidate should possess 5+ years of experience on Checkpoint and/or Palo Alto security products.
- Must have built Checkpoint and / or Palo Alto firewalls up from scratch on open systems and appliances, including full build of management systems and initial configuration of all rules, for large enterprise deployments.
- Have command line level 3 troubleshooting experience on Checkpoint or Palo Alto, for issues with access, VPN, NAT, etc.
- Knowledge of IP protocols
- Some Unix command line experience for scripting and configuration.
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable in presenting your technical details to different levels of audience, such as engineering teams, or leadership.
- Typically requires BS/BA or equivalent.
Additional desirable skills you may have:
- Security vendor certification (Checkpoint CCSE, Palo Alto CNSE, etc.)
- Industry security certifications (CISSP, GSEC, GCFW, GCED, Security+, etc )
- Familiarity with some type of script / automation tools, such as AWK, PERL, Python, Ansible, etc.
- Windows and/or Unix network application experience (to assist in troubleshooting).
- Disaster Recovery experience with network security devices.
- Experience troubleshooting applications with a sniffer.
- Some working knowledge of Cisco ASA firewalls is a plus.
