Head of Sales Compensation
Sprout Social’s Sales Operations & Strategy team is looking for a detail-focused, process-minded, and analytical Head of Sales Compensation leader who has experience supporting Sales, Customer Success, and/or Finance organizations.
Our Sales and Customer Success teams work with more than 25,000 brands around the world including the Chicago Bulls, Sony Electronics, Indiana University, Make-a-wish Foundation, Edelman, and Subaru. These businesses rely on Sprout to create stronger relationships with their customers through social media.
This position will partner closely with the Sales Leadership, People, Sales Operations, and Finance teams to define and implement incentive programs, systems, and policies for the entire Sales and Customer Success organizations. In addition to sales incentives this position will drive broad-based compensation strategy for a growing sales force to ensure we attract, retain, and reward top talent.

Qualifications
These are the minimum qualifications that our hiring team is looking for in this role:
- 6+ years of overall work experience in Sales Compensation, Sales Operations, or Benefits
- Expert level experience with Excel and G Suite
- Ability to work with, organize, audit, and manipulate large data sets across multiple data sources
Additionally, these are the preferred qualifications that would indicate a particularly strong candidate:
- Customer service oriented and demonstrating empathy when working with Sales and Customer Success individual contributors and leadership
- Ability to flex between owning strategic initiatives evolving the sales compensation practice to executing on tactical day-to-day operational items
Within 1 Month, you will…
- Complete Sprout’s New Hire training program alongside other new Sprout team members. You’ll gain a broader understanding of our product and how your role fits into the organization.
- Partner with the Vice President of Sales Operations to define key success metrics for your role and how you will measure against them.
- Get to know and begin to build working relationships with the Sales Compensation Analyst team.
- Get to know and begin to build working relationships with stakeholders throughout our Sales and Customer Success teams as well as cross-functional teams.
- Become familiar with our sales environment and sales processes.
Within 3 Months, you will…
- Have direct management responsibility of the Sales Compensation Analyst team, start providing mentorship and guidance to the team, and assist them in the execution of their objectives.
- Learn and develop a firm understanding of the current state of our compensation plans, processes, reporting, and documentation.
- Assist with the design, modeling, and administration of variable incentive plans and other reward and recognition programs.
Within 6 months, you will…
- Formulate a long-term vision and plan for evolving the variable compensation, broad based compensation, and automation strategies for the Sales and Customer Success organization.
- Be the main conduit between Sales and Customer Success Leadership and the Sales Compensation team to ensure we attract, retain, and reward high performing individuals appropriately.
- Support some aspects of variable compensation administration.
- Support some aspects of documentation creation and management.
- Provide excellent customer service to the Sales and Customer Success orgs related to variable compensation questions.
Within 12 months, you will...
- Become the subject matter expert for all Sales and Customer Success variable compensation programs and processes.
- Have begun to execute on long-term strategic initiatives such as internal operational improvements, automation, and designing new incentives.
- Have coached, mentored, and developed the Compensation Team to dramatically improve their technical skillset, project management skills, and analytical skills.
- Surprise us! Use your unique ideas and abilities to change the Sales Compensation team in beneficial ways that we haven’t even considered yet.
