The Getaways team at Groupon focuses on one of the most dynamic industries there is - travel. But we're not your typical travel platform. We work to create packages that delight both hoteliers and Groupon subscribers alike. We focus on relationships big and small, working with large hotel chains to boutique Bed & Breakfasts, crafting every deal by listening to the needs of the business. Our obsession is putting together offerings that will delight our customers and help them make life less boring.

 

As the Head of Sales, Getaways, you'll be responsible for a large sales team, focusing on the overall success of the sales team, as well as developing and executing on the overarching Getaways strategy. You will report directly to the GM of Getaways and will collaborate with corporate leadership to build an outstanding sales management team and posse of high-performing inside sales professionals.

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Attract, develop, motivate lead and retain a team of inside and outside sales professionals to meet and exceed short term and long term sales goals

  • Clearly articulate business performance and strategies to the sales team

  • Develop and implement structured but adaptable sales process. Track effectiveness of the process by leveraging quantitative and qualitative feedback to improve effectiveness. Support the addition of new products and services into the sales process.

  • Drive clear communications of expectations, remove any roadblocks and hold sales team accountable for results.

  • Build and develop Groupon Getaways presence as an integral part of hotels marketing and revenue management strategies – partner with Product, Revenue Management, Finance and other internal stakeholders to develop and execute supporting strategies

  • Develop, train, mentor, and supervise Sales Managers, Training and Development Manager, and Account Executives on sales aspects including pipeline management, people management and sales skill development.

  • Collaborate with revenue management and merchandising teams to ensure optimal deal structure and economics for each market

  • Provide data-driven feedback from hotel partners and sales team to optimize business strategy, and influence product development decisions

 

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 5+ years of B2B sales management experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Track record of mentoring, developing, and motivating both managers and salespeople

  • Evidence of successfully leading others to meet and exceed measurable sales and revenue goals

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and ability to articulate business value

  • Experience developing, implementing, and evolving a sales process as new products and services are introduced

  • Demonstrated levels of dedication, prioritization, and ownership required to succeed at start-up speed

  • Experience managing a large sales organization multiple with managers and 50+ sales professionals

  • Sales experience in the lodging industry a plus
