Relativity is seeking a Manager of Business Operations to lead a small team focused on driving strategic and continues Efficiency & Effectiveness improvements, with focus on Engineering costs and RelativityOne production costs.

The Manager of Business Operations will support department operation teams and leaders in driving one-off strategic operational projects. In particular we expect this team to work closely with the CTO, CPO, Engineering leaders and FP&A team to improve Engineering Operations, Efficiency and Effectiveness. As part of this cooperation the role will proactively work on most critical operational challenges, including resource allocation, priority operations improvement projects, efficiency/process improvements. The Manager will also establish and manage the right processes, systems, and procedures within Engineering to execute against our overall business and product strategy.

The Manager of Business Operations will also be responsible for leading cross-departmental efforts to monitor, proactively manage, and continuously decreases our RelativityOne Costs of Good Sold (COGS) unit costs.

Finally, the Manager will also be responsible driving other ad-hoc projects related to department efficiency and long term operational models, including helping with the engineering All Hands, annual planning process in engineering and product group, etc. 

Responsibilities

  • Managing an effective annual planning process for Engineering & Product Teams
  • Lead efforts, working closely with the Strategy team and Product/Engineering team leadership, to develop, finetune and implement Annual Plan for Engineering team
  • Involve and work closely with the Executive, Finance, HR and Strategy teams to deliver the drive Engineering annual planning efforts aligned with our budgeting and workforce planning processes.
  • Help translate long term roadmap plans into high level engineering resource requirements
  • Ensure that any engineering dependencies and activities are properly scoped and thought through during the broader Key Imperative planning processes
  • Ensure that engineering plans are tightly coordinated and align with plans from Service Delivery, Security, and Product Management.

  • Improving Engineering Business Operations (Efficiency)
  • Partner closely with Engineering and FP&A to drive cross-functional projects to improve engineering efficiency and implement consistent processes
  • Working closely with Engineering Leadership and FP&A team, develop and implement empirical prioritization processes for evaluating project investment decisions and establish common success metrics to enable cross portfolio prioritization (e.g. incremental efficiency gain, revenue or profit, adoption, customer satisfaction).
  • Develop a methodology to consistently monitor and analyze data driven and actionable Key Performance Indicator metrics, drive consensus for the KPIs implementation.
  • Refine and keep evergreen Engineering performance reporting, KPI dashboards, and other tools to regularly and consistently monitor health the group’s efforts.
  • Drive department KPIs Dashboard automation efforts, evaluate data sources, solutions and opportunities to create hands-off dashboards.
  • Manage data driven discovery of improvement priorities, set priorities and develop opportunity evaluation framework to focus group’s project efforts.
  • Lead various cross-functional operations planning and project initiatives.
  • Implement processes to create efficient, clear, and timely communications of Engineering project efforts
  • Coordinate efforts to continuously lower RelativityOne Operating costs :
  • The goals is to lower RelativityOne COGS exponentially in the next 12-24 months.
  • The Manager will play a critical role in coordinating between different departments, increasing visibility, driving the right behavior and managing the overall process.
  • The Manager will be tasked in ensuring that we our engineering teams are efficient in how they are using Azure, that our architecture team keeps cost as one of the key factors when considering changes to architecture and continuously evaluates how to improve RelativityOne cost base, that our Service Delivery team balances out performance and cost to get optimal solution for our customers
  • The Manager will work closely with our Finance team in managing the Microsoft relationship and ensuring we are getting the best possible rate and consumption terms
  • Other Business Operations (Strategic and ad-hock):
  • Lead ad-hock strategic and department level projects to further process and efficiency improvements efforts across Support, Security, Finance and other key groups (as needed)
  • Develop annual OMS for Engineering, keep it evergreen, and ensure that it stays aligned with the overall Relativity OMS, with a particular focus on coordinating regular activities with Product Management, Service Deliver and Security
  • Represent Engineering in the recurring KI Roundtable meetings to provide feedback and drive action/accountability
  • Manage business case creation for long-term support team structure design, perform current structure gap analysis, and 2021 scenario analysis, ensure alignment with 2021 strategic planning (as needed)
  • Collaborate across functions (support, finance, etc.) to manage, coordinate or support additional business operations efforts aimed at efficiency and process improvement (as needed)

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of total experience with significant experience across strategy, operations, process improvements, and change management
  • Direct experience working closely and across Strategy, Support/Success, Engineering, FP&A
  • Must be a changemaker, able to influence and inspire change in our people, process, technology, and policy
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional experiences that delights customers
  • Experience in process improvement and operational efficiencies
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to drive business transformation in a matrix organization
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills with a demonstrated ability to excel in multiple projects amidst a fast-paced, cross-functional, results-oriented work environment
  • Ability to work efficiently - demonstrate a bias for action amidst ambiguous projects and deadlines
  • Work experience that shows a history of both strategic and "hands-on" projects
  • Ability to analyze information, solve complex problems, and identify best practices/lessons learned
  • Ability to listen, adapt, and guide teams through influence
  • Work experience showing leadership of complex initiatives with organization-wide impact
  • Excellent analytics and strategic planning skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong project management skills
