The Vice President of Sales, Management provides strategic leadership, expertise, and sets the tone for Sales success and business growth, professional behavior, continuous improvement and values in the Sales team. They ensure alignment to the strategic direction of the business in a complex, ever changing environment. They manage the internal sales teams to ensure continuous activity, productivity, predictability, and compliance while maintaining a culture of high integrity and accountability. They maintain effective and collaborative relationships internally across SMS departments, adding value and knowledge to discussions. Leading and motivating the Sales Teams to deliver target growth, expand the client base and driving high operational output and performance they ensure delivery of the bookings plan as agreed with Senior Leaders and the Board. This individual will serve as a point of contact for executive leaders and influencers at our key customer targets while leading complex and innovative strategic sales initiatives that add value for our customers and SMS.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop departmental strategy and operational goals, ensuring that they are clearly communicated, reinforced and delivered according to plan.
  • Reinforce a positive working environment through a strong, effective and collaborative leadership style, ongoing communications with the team and internal SMS peers, celebrating success and rewarding outstanding performance.
  • Partner with HR team to ensure the department is effectively staffed and trained.
  • Effectively coach, mentor and evaluate staff, delivering timely feedback, discipline, counseling, and performance reviews.
  • Identify and develop high potential team members with a strong succession plan in place
  • Manage poor performance swiftly and effectively.
  • Monitor quality and details of work product and accuracy of information
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures
  • Maintain and foster existing C suite customer relationships and networks to understand their needs and provide solutions
  • Use thorough understanding of the customer’s structure and leadership to influence key decision makers
  • Demonstrate solution and value proposition and deal with customer issues, questions, and uncertainties
  • Identify and deliver on any opportunities to increase SMS Assist’s suite of offerings to existing customers
  • Maintain up-to-date, detailed customer knowledge and industry data; serves as an active member of groups and associations related to the industry and relevant customers.
  • Maintain visibility of all sales initiatives by category, customer and status in salesforce.com
  • Utilize reporting to gain an understanding of which prospects are in various stages of the selling process
  • Use appropriate selling strategies and techniques to engage clients at all stages of the pipeline, and identify and address any weaknesses in the strategy
  • Operate within Financial, Legal, and Ethical Policies responsible for driving the growth of revenue and profit originating from the Sales department; manages the Sales Profit and Loss statement
  • Establish rigorous process for deal inspections
  • Domestic travel required up to 30%
  • Foster a positive team environment
  • Ensure confidentiality of internal and external data
  • Perform ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned

Role Specific Skills

  • Computer Skills: Intermediate proficiencies in: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook preferred
  • Salesforce, HubSpot, Sales Navigator experience preferred

  • Advanced proficiency in all people management processes, including recruitment, performance management and reward
  • Advanced proficiency in building, growing and developing a team; including department structure design and resourcing and succession planning
  • Advanced proficiency in coaching and developing individual team members to reach their potential
  • Proficient in engaging multiple teams through communication, processes, personal impact and influence.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 8 years of sales experience and a minimum of 5 years of complex sales to executives in large organizations, ideally in technology or services required
  • At least 3 years of sales leadership at a VP level or above
  • nowledge of sales process, methodology and data required
