What does it take to find purpose at work? While some people find purpose in their company’s mission and vision, others find it in perpetuating and building upon a company’s culture.

In essence, purpose is anything that gives work a greater meaning. For example, Ezgi Cubukcu, a senior advisor at TransUnion, found purpose through Women @TU, an employee resource group (ERG). Cubukcu said her experience with Women @TU was so positive that it motivated her to start a new ERG, the women in finance, data and tech network.

“This group creates an opportunity for women in these fields to share ideas and experiences, access professional development and network with each other virtually,” Cubukcu said.

Purpose can also be found in working with bright minds, like in the case of Phil Schwan, manager of end user computing at Netrix, who recently partnered with an IT director on a project he described as “visionary.”

“His vision and IT experience came together beautifully [during the project] and we’ve established a great rapport,” Schwan said. “I’m looking forward to seeing this relationship grow in the coming years.”

Finding purpose at work is a process, but it’s made easier when your company provides you the opportunity to do your best work and supports your endeavors away from your desk. The nine companies we’re spotlighting here do just that, and they’re all hiring right now.

What they do: CSC Corptax develops tax software for enterprise clients, which according to the company includes 50 percent of those in the Fortune 500. Its solution is designed to be end to end and offers support for data management, tax planning, tax compliance and more.

What’s one thing that makes CSC Corptax’s company culture unique or special?

CSC Corptax encourages taking time to learn and grow professionally. Leadership believes that ongoing learning and professional development is important to the success of individuals, teams and the overall organization. By learning and implementing new technology shortly after joining, I became a subject matter expert and have grown within the organization. During my nearly nine years with Corptax, I’ve enjoyed access to Pluralsight courses, LinkedIn Learning, monthly Azure credits, leadership training, technology conferences and more. The company also offers a tuition reimbursement program for those looking to advance their careers.

Ongoing learning and professional development is important to the success of individuals, teams and the overall organization.”

What’s the coolest project you’ve worked on recently, and what did you enjoy most about it?

We always focus on the future and use the latest technologies. That positions us well to create efficiencies and offer a better experience for our customers — all while benefiting our teams. With the help of artificial intelligence and the Microsoft Azure Bot Service, we recently implemented a bot called “Corptax Assistant.” Customers not only get immediate help right in the product but also provide feedback to us so we can continually improve our software and enhance the customer experience. Our employees use the same bot for help on various topics, which leads to time savings and a streamlined search process.

What they do: BCV provides social media services to companies in the hospitality industry, which include managing content calendars and individual accounts as well as strategy development.

What’s one thing that makes BCV’s company culture unique or special?

BCV’s company culture is innovative and engaging. We have a culture committee that does an amazing job organizing a variety of events, whether it’s an in-person Oktoberfest happy hour — complete with pretzel necklaces — or monthly virtual yoga classes. BCV knows its employees and understands connecting with each other is so important and motivating.

Organizations have had to make many shifts over the past few years due to Covid-19, and BCV has shown it’s a leader in adaptability, listening to the team and adjusting where needed. A flexible work environment has been implemented and sanitization products are available for those who feel comfortable going into the office. Even larger shifts, such as revamped processes and organizational structures, have been welcomed. BCV employees know their opinion is always valued and we all work together to improve each day.

We have many creative and strategic minds at our company.”

What’s the coolest project you’ve worked on recently, and what did you enjoy most about it?

One of the coolest projects I’ve worked on lately is a 360 campaign for one of my luxury clients. The campaign involves multiple social platforms and we are utilizing almost every function and feature of these platforms, including videography, in-feed graphics, Instagram Stories, Instant Experience Ads, and more. Multiple BCV departments were involved in the brainstorming and execution, and my favorite part about this campaign was collaborating with our internal teams. We have many creative and strategic minds at our company, and I left each meeting and call feeling so inspired and motivated. It was so much fun to work on such an innovative campaign with my talented coworkers and friends.

What they do: Arrive Logistics is a freight brokerage whose proprietary transportation management system uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to more efficiently match shippers and carriers.

What’s one thing that makes Arrive Logistics’ company culture unique or special?

There is real excitement and enthusiasm for the work we are doing across the organization, whether it’s one of my own projects or something I’m involved with indirectly. The result is a high level of collaboration and information-sharing across teams. People are interested in our work and see great value in it, and I find that really motivating and rewarding.

I’m excited for the projects currently in development that we’ll be releasing throughout the year and beyond.”

What’s the coolest project you’ve worked on recently, and what did you enjoy most about it?

The coolest project for me so far has been my work on the development and implementation of our truck-to-load matching algorithm, which uses data and machine learning to generate recommendations for our carrier reps on which loads to offer their carriers. I’ve enjoyed seeing the direct impact this work has on our carrier reps’ booking efficiency and spread per load, which we can see clearly in the data we are collecting. This product release is just the tip of the iceberg for data science at Arrive, and I’m excited for the projects currently in development that we’ll be releasing throughout the year and beyond.

Phil Schwan
Manager, End User Computing • Netrix, LLC

What they do: Netrix is an IT consultancy and solutions provider that offers managed services and helps organizations move to the cloud, up their cybersecurity and implement new collaboration tools.

What’s one thing that makes Netrix’s company culture unique or special?

I recently worked with a client whose visionary IT director took the opportunity during the pandemic to pursue an aggressive transformation project and modernize aging technology and processes. We partnered with him in implementing best-of-breed products across their entire end user computing landscape and helped implement a managed services agreement to keep their users empowered and productive. His vision and IT experience came together beautifully and we’ve established a great rapport. I’m looking forward to seeing this relationship grow in the coming years.

The program has helped foster an exciting and positive atmosphere.”

What’s one company resource, program or benefit that has really enhanced your experience as an employee?

The “achievers club” program has really created an experience for me unlike any other at a company I’ve worked for. It’s not just the recognition for accomplishments, but more the opportunity to share experiences and stories with coworkers in a relaxed setting. The program has helped foster an exciting and positive atmosphere that helps motivate a perpetual appetite for excellence. The bonds that form have made a lasting impression on me.

Jackie Liss
Team Lead - Inbound Retail Sales • Provi

What they do: Provi’s platform connects bars and restaurants with alcohol distributors and brands. It’s designed to streamline the ordering and inventory management process for establishments while opening up new sales opportunities for brands and distributors.

What’s one thing that makes Provi’s company culture unique or special?

Provi’s culture recognizes hard work and acknowledges each employee for their outstanding achievements. Our company does a wonderful job of making sure everyone is seen and heard. In just two years, I’ve been able to move from an inbound sales rep to a team lead and I’ve been recognized multiple times for hard work and inclusivity. I am beyond grateful to be a part of this team!

Our company does a wonderful job of making sure everyone is seen and heard.”

What’s one company resource, program or benefit that has really enhanced your experience as an employee?

I love the fact that we have virtual wellness yoga every month. It has been such a wonderful way to take a break during the day and it ensures we get a little self care in. I always look forward to it.

Paradox

Laura Martin
Client Success Director • Paradox

What they do: Paradox’s AI-powered recruiting technology is designed to streamline recruiting through a chatbot that can schedule interviews, answer questions from candidates, screen candidates and more.

What’s one thing that makes Paradox company culture unique or special?

We are a hyper-growth company that is incredibly focused on our clients. We had just over 100 employees when I started two years ago and I didn’t have anyone on my team directly. We now have around 400 employees globally, my team has grown, and we manage almost 100 clients. Our growth has been incredible, and what makes Paradox such a great place to work is everyone’s willingness to collaborate and jump in whenever they’re needed. No matter the time of day, someone is available to bounce ideas off of, troubleshoot a problem or just be there for support.

I was working through a solution for one of my clients and was trying to learn more about a new product I thought would work great for them. A team member in a different city didn’t hesitate to stay on after hours to help me understand the product and build a great presentation for the client. We are all committed to providing the best level of service and support we can to our clients and each other so we can continue to grow.

No matter the time of day, someone is available to bounce ideas off of, troubleshoot a problem or just be there for support.”

What’s the coolest project you’ve worked on recently, and what did you enjoy most about it?

I helped implement our product at a large client, collaborating with multiple departments for a global launch in seven languages. I enjoyed strategically partnering with my client to create the most efficient process not only for their candidates but also for their team. Once we launched, we received feedback that a recruiter literally shed a tear when she saw how easy things were going to be. I come from a recruiting background, so being able to partner with teams that I was once a part of — and impact their work in such a meaningful way — makes my job so cool.

Emily Preston
Client Service Lead • Apexon

What they do: Infostretch works with companies to plan and accelerate digital initiatives, from implementing DevOps and chaos engineering to the creation of custom IoT software.

What’s one thing that makes Infostretch’s company culture unique or special?

I think what makes our company culture unique is everyone’s kindness, openness and willingness to always lend a helping hand. You can feel it in how we come together to truly deliver our best work.

We recently had a new client that was interested in our various practice areas and wanted to learn more about how we could help grow their business. We got all the leaders of the various practice areas together to brainstorm and define the best path forward for the client. Coming together as a team to develop ideas and strategies for our client’s growth is really what we do best.

What’s one company resource, program or benefit that has really enhanced your experience as an employee?

I really enjoy our mentorship program. It’s a great way to meet new people in the organization, and I love having a person within the company who helps me on my growth path and with navigating new opportunities. It was really helpful to me in building confidence when I first started in this industry.

Ezgi Cubukcu
Senior Advisor, Strategy & Market Development, Media & Entertainment • TransUnion

What they do: In addition to credit reporting, TransUnion also offers a wide variety of products and services to businesses, including analytics consulting, digital marketing solutions and identity theft protection.

What’s one thing that makes TransUnion’s company culture unique or special?

Our commitment to making a positive impact on our communities, both in and out of the office.

As a business, TransUnion supports clients in finding more customers who are the right fit and in determining the best ways to serve them. At the same time, the company has partnered with various nonprofits to help underrepresented and credit-disadvantaged people gain access to credit and participate more broadly in our financial system. TransUnion encourages associates and teams to volunteer and give back through community service opportunities and a gift-matching program for nonprofits. This is a very unique aspect of TU’s culture, which I love.

TransUnion encourages associates and teams to volunteer and give back through community service opportunities and a gift-matching program for nonprofits.”

What’s one company resource, program or benefit that has really enhanced your experience as an employee?

I started at TransUnion a few weeks prior to the shift to remote work at the beginning of the pandemic. With that being said, Women @TU, an internal employee network resource group, has been a critical resource as I’ve settled into my role. The organization helped me expand my network within the company and get exposure to some of our senior leaders through their roundtables, panels with external speakers and professional development programs.

Through Women @TU, I founded the women in finance, data and tech network with associates across the organization and external partners in our community. This group creates an opportunity for women in these fields to share ideas and experiences, access professional development and network with each other virtually. I really loved the fact that TransUnion was supportive of this idea and allowed us to run with it and make it happen! This has been a fun way to meet fellow colleagues from different parts of our business and women in the industry at large.

James Herold
Director of Business Intelligence and Analytics • PerkSpot

What they do: PerkSpot’s platform enables companies to offer special discounts on dining, entertainment, travel and more to their employees. Along with discounts, PerkSpot also has an employee recognition tool where companies can reward top performers with gift cards to places like Starbucks, Amazon and AutoZone.

Everyone can be who they are and the entire PerkSpot community embraces that.’’

What’s one thing that makes PerkSpot’s company culture unique or special?

Being able to come as you are and be yourself at work. There’s no pressure or feeling of needing to fit in. Everyone can be who they are and the entire PerkSpot community embraces that. For example, I’ve showed up to the office wearing gear from my favorite artists, which almost always ends up sparking a conversation with one of my coworkers. I’ve encountered so many folks at PerkSpot who pick up on what I thought were obscure references or share some of my niche interests.

Feeling comfortable being myself frees up my time and energy to focus on the important work of analytics. I also know that when I show up for work each day, I’ll be spending my time with others who value inclusivity, which really helps me feel like I’m part of a community.

What’s one company resource, program or benefit that has really enhanced your experience as an employee?

Recently the business intelligence group was tasked with exploring the data from one of our newly deployed products, PerkSpot’s mobile application. This was an exciting project to work through as it brought us into the fold of understanding all aspects of PerkSpot and advising on how we can best capture the data needed to report on consumer behaviors. Seeing how users engage with our application and how we can prove the impact of this new channel from the data has been very rewarding for the team.

It’s also been exciting for us to work on the ground floor of a critical new development. The resulting analysis of this data supported continued investment into the application and will help drive decisions regarding future development.
