Summary of the Account Manager – Landscaping position

SMS Assist is seeking a Subject Matter Expert in the area of Landscape services to provide knowledge and expertise to our internal employees and our customers. As the Account Manager – Landscaping you will act as the resident expert for landscaping projects. You will respond to RFP’s from our clients, request quotes from current and potential sub-contractors, price out services and ensure that our client’s receive quality landscape services at the best price. Additionally, as an Account Manager – Landscaping, you will review work we have previously completed in the landscaping arena to ensure that this past work was within our client’s price range. The Account Manager – Landscaping role falls partly into the procurement and sourcing territory as you will be acquiring new sub-contractors for our client; you will also serve as the landscape expert when it comes to market pricing of services, and will make recommendations for our client’s landscaping needs. Other projects include training our Operations Specialists, price analysis, RFP response, RFQ generation, process improvement and more.

Our ideal fit for the Account Manager – Landscaping position has experience in not only landscaping, gardening, etc. but also has experience requesting quotes and responding to RFP’s. An understanding of procurement, sourcing and negotiating would be highly beneficial to this role. To qualify for the Account Manager – Landscaping position you should understand market pricing and feel confident in your negotiating skills. You should be able to quickly & efficiently respond to RFP’s while being able to provide the “why” behind the quote selected for each service.

This is an office-based position that does not generally require hands-on work.

Core Responsibilities of the Account Manager – Landscaping

• Serve as expert and resource for Operations Specialists in our Exterior Services Department.
• Prepare, review, and approve quotes and invoices for landscape work orders (pricing, scope, etc.)
• Procurement/Sourcing of new sub-contractors to work with our clients and management of quotes from current subcontractors.
• Serve as key point of contact and be able to resolve contract issues with sub-contractors/affiliates.

Key Competencies of the Account Manager – Landscaping

• Experience with Residential and Commercial landscape needs
• Understanding of procurement and sourcing
• Ability to evaluate quotes and invoices to determine if they meet industry standards and are reasonable in terms of pricing and labor necessary to complete the task.
• Strong verbal communication/negotiation skills
• Flexible and adaptable
• Ability to develop relationships with sub-contractors/affiliates
• Strong work ethic and integrity
• Awareness of risk mitigation techniques
• Strong desire and ability to contribute to and work with a team
• Takes initiative to proactively solve problems
• Ability to collaborate with others in a corporate/office environment

Experience and Education of the Account Manager - Landscaping

• Hands-on technical expertise in the field
• Relevant industry certifications are a plus
