When most people think of HR, they think traditional, stuffy, boring. We are anything but that. We need a Benefits Manager who thinks outside of the box. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Compensation and Benefits Director to join our HR team. The successful candidate is accountable for the design, development and administration of compensation and employee benefits programs, including the delivery and communication of these programs. They are responsible for ensuring that programs attract, retain, and engage employees while aligning with the company’s business goals, are market competitive, fair and in compliance with legislative requirements

As a Compensation and Benefits Director, you will specialize in supporting our people through identification, implementation, and support of standard and unique offerings in the areas of benefits/compensation, wellness, and retirement. In this role, you partner closely with the CHRO to ensure as we grow as a company, our benefits and compensation offerings match our culture and employee needs.

Our Benefits Manager will have worked within an HR Function before – benefits, wellness, and retirement experience is key…but so is creativity and out of the box thinking. You think like an Entrepreneur, and lead with empathy and passion for people. You don’t mind getting your hands dirty. You are quick to implement innovative ideas and programs. You are organized. You are a strong communicator. You are our Compensation and Benefits Director.

 Responsibilities of the Compensation and Benefits Director:

  • Designs and implements the full suite of benefits offerings, including wellness and recognition programs, to increase the company’s ability to attract, develop, and retain top performers
  • Manages health and welfare plans, COBRA administration, FMLA administration, including the integration with disability programs
  • Develops and executes documentation such as plan documents, plan amendments, summary plan descriptions, tax filings or other documents to assure compliance
  • Designs and implements total rewards program including compensation and incentive programs, non-monetary recognition program, health, welfare, retirement programs, including voluntary benefits programs and benefit programs to ensure organizational equity and competitiveness
  • Oversee the salary planning, merit budget, job evaluation and salary structure components of the overall compensation system
  • Own salary administration: Maintain and update the job structure using external market data, including job levels, job families and job profiles. Create job ranges and targets for new positions
  • Maintain the job catalogue and the position evaluation process. Ensure proper classification of employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Manages vendor, consultant and outsourced relationships
  • Ensures that all welfare and retirement plans meet legal, regulatory and audit compliance requirements
  • Manages 401(k) administration and compliance. Recommend changes as needed
  • Manage annual renewal process and open enrollment, including communication, process, and coordination with stakeholders
  • Create process for on-boarding and exiting employees as it relates to benefits.

 Requirements of the Compensation and Benefits Director:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (preferably with a concentration in Human Resources Management (Master's degree is desired but not required).
  • PHR/SPHR Certification is required.
  • Eight to ten (8-10) years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits design and administration.
  • Must have an innovative, creative and disruptive outlook on the future of employee benefits and wellness.
  • Unmatched communication skills. You eloquently express exactly what needs to be said, even in tough situations. You can also deliver a compelling presentation and a well-written proposal.
  • Passion for people. You want to get to know the 600 + team members in this organization on an individual level.  
  • Confidence to speak as the expert in tough situations and ask questions.
  • Ability to build rapport with multiple stakeholders.
  • The ability to solve complex, often ambiguous issues. In our experience this is because you collaborate well.
  • Problem-solver through and through.
  • Proven ability to deal with and resolve confidential, and sometimes complex, situations while providing flexible solutions.
  • Full understanding of local, state and federal laws, policies and procedures and how they impact benefits.
  • Understanding the value of customer service in the HR environment.
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now is a plus.

Director of Compensation and Benefits will report to the Chief Human Resources Officer.
