SMS Assist is looking for an Instructional Designer to join our growing team!

The Instructional Designer needs to be high energy and high charisma, along with having an expert tone when it comes to managing Affiliate training. This person should engage and energize the room when discussing the Affiliate Platform and technology. The central role of the Instructional Designer would be to provide live training to our network of Affiliates. This secondary aspect of the Instructional Designer would be to assist in curating and creating training materials for our Affiliates (guides, videos, or interactive tools). This is a hybrid role and this person can expect to spend (on average) about 30% of their day on training and 70% curating/developing resources.

What is SMS Assist?

Good question. To keep it simple: we connect businesses (retailers, restaurants, commercial) & residential properties with the best maintenance providers (plumbers, HVAC repairers, floor care, rehab construction, etc.) in their area through our state of the art technology. Without us, retailers cannot open their doors and our maintenance providers would not be able to grow their businesses.

• The schedule for this position is Monday- Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Core Responsibilities

      Facilitation

• Develop and conduct all web based learning and classroom learning based upon the needs of the SMS Assist Affiliate network.
• Coach and train one-on-one and in a group/classroom setting both internally and externally as needed/requested
• Work with the Affiliate Development Associate Director to develop virtual training for our Affiliate Network.
• Work with Operations to create Affiliate Training Opportunities
• Work with New Hire Training for Affiliate Workshop Training
• Work with sourcing to ensure that all Affiliates are contacted and supported regarding new training opportunities
• Attend a weekly IT/Operations Guidance Team Meeting to become more informed on Affiliates/ Internal system change that could affect the Affiliate Network.
• Update and curate all existing Affiliate Training Resources (both guides and videos)

      Resources

• Develop and design innovative training resources (including print, multimedia, video and interactive resources)
• Update and maintain the Affiliate Training Tab in the company intranet
• Develop and execute resource plans for all Affiliates and tailor our resource library to meet the needs of each organization
• Manage and develop new training resources
• Proactively work with all operational verticals to ensure that all training resource needs are met for their Affiliate population
• Partner with Compliance, IT and Company Leadership to determine what new systems, initiatives, etc. should be introduced and what the resource needs for success are
• Ensure all necessary resources are available for Affiliates to guide themselves through our proprietary software, One by SMS Assist
• Work closely with Marketing/Design to brand all Affiliate Training Resources

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree and/or 2-3 years of professional training/adult learning experience is a plus
• Comfort with technology and learning new systems
• Comfort with PowerPoint and presentation software
• Strong extemporaneous public speaking skills
• Ability to present to a large/ small audience is a must
• Experience working with webinar software is preferred (Zoom preferred, GoToWebinar, WebEx)
• Experience working with content management software (ie: Adobe RoboHelp) as well as creative software (Camtasia, Microsoft Office, Articulate storyline) is a plus.
