 Overview

SMS Assist is seeking an Inside Sales Manager. This Inside Sales Manager position will report directly to the Chief Revenue Officer.  The Inside Sales Manager will oversee a newly developed team of Inside Sales Representatives and provide effective day-to-day guidance, training and direction in order to exceed set sales goals and ensure utmost customer satisfaction.  Candidates for the Inside Sales Manager position should be highly motivated individuals capable of managing and motivating a new team of 6-12 sales representatives.

Core Responsibilities for Inside Sales Manager Include: 

  • Manage and develop a team of sales representatives responsible for quickly responding to inbound, warm leads and consulting with homeowners on their needs for home repair work, including handyman, plumbing, and HVAC. 
  • Train and develop a sales team to fully understand the customer’s needs and recommend the best likely solution for the customer.
  • Coach sales team on closing sales as well as personally closing sales via phone (approximately 10-15 deals per representative, per day.
  • Understand and train team members on how to coordinate and schedule services with contractors/affiliates through SMS’ proprietary system.
  • Enter customer record and maintain updated information in CRM.
  • Responsible for leading team meetings and motivating, recognizing, and developing team members individually and as a group.
  • Responsible for training new team members on effective strategies and sales success plans.
  • Work with Chief Revenue Officer to understand sales goals and communicate goals to team.
  • Facilitate new processes, tools, communications, training and methodologies to ensure sales program's success across teams and departments throughout the company.
  • Facilitate relationships among members of various departments in order to achieve the organization's goals and objectives.

Preferred Skills for the Inside Sales Manager position:

  • History of exceeding set sales goals
  • Inside sales management experience and CRM experience
  • Experience leading and managing people/teams
  • Broad knowledge and experience across trades including handyman, plumbing, HVAC, electrical
  • Strong verbal communication/negotiation skills
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and desire to contribute to a fast-paced work environment
  • Passion for customer service
  • Strong work ethic and integrity
  • Strong desire and ability to contribute to and work with a team
  • Ability to diagnose and solve problems- primarily via phone
  • Initiative to proactively solve problems
  • Technical aptitude- ability to learn and utilize proprietary technology platform for scheduling, metrics, entering comments, etc.  

    Qualifications and Education Requirements for the Inside Sales Manager position:

    • Bachelor’s degree  (or equivalent experience- typically 2+ years)
    • Previous experience as a manager/leader of a sales team
    • “Big box” home improvement experience; having worked at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
    • “Jack of all trades”-- Familiarity with home repairs across trades i.e.; small handyman fixes, plumbing, HVAC, electrical
    • Experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs, add-on sales, and clearly communicating products and benefits.
    • Relevant industry certifications are a plus 
    • Position is base salary plus commission
