Job Description

This is a strategic analytical role within the Discover Card Acquisition Credit Risk Management team with specific responsibility for advancing the business risk management strategies and policies.  The position has responsibility for the management of Non-prime card underwriting strategies. The position will require collaboration a broad range of business partners including Marketing, Finance, Compliance to identify, propose and implement new opportunities to support account growth goal and manage risk target.

The role offers a significant analytic and creative challenge to the right person.  The position will provide the opportunity to apply existing skills while providing opportunity to further develop business capabilities.  A well rounded and creative individual is sought with a high level of proven analytic experience.

Key deliverables (performance measures)

Initiate, develop and monitor acquisition risk strategies and policies for Non-prime card underwriting.

Enhance underwriting decision framework to support business strategies working closely with a broad range of business partners. Identify and explore new approaches and data sources to support improvements to existing and new programs.

Create and run an effective range of test and control programs in a fully controlled environment in support of targeting and strategy enhancement.

Monitor performance trends to anticipate necessary adjustments to strategies.  Complete business modifications as appropriate based on findings of analysis. 

Establish appropriate profitability trade-offs using various tools to maximize business return on the business exposure ensuring that key business factors are understood and measured e.g. impact on usage, revenue and risk.

Skills

Master's Degree: Quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering or Econometrics)

1 Year Analytic Consumer Finance product experience

Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

Familiarity with SAS/SQL

Initiate, develop, and implement approval criteria at Acquisition stage, in a range of segments and products.

Establish appropriate profitability trade-offs using various tools to maximize business return

Ensure that key business factors are understood and measured e.g. impact on account booking volume, revenue, and loss

Establish and maintain effective strategy performance tracking ensuring that strategies perform as expected and feed learnings back into strategy and/or policy enhancements in a timely manner

Develop/implement a comprehensive range of Acquisition underwriting policies that are consistent with designed strategies

Act as Risk Management liaison with Marketing, Operations and Finance functions in inter-department projects

Present findings and recommendations to senior management and business
