ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director, Business Development will be responsible for building our retail partner network by generating, identifying, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing deals with prospective partners. This individual will position ShopRunner to attract new retailers into the network and extend relationships with brands affiliated with current partners.
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Identify significant new business opportunities with potential clients from the Internet Retailer 500-1000 and DTC/digital native brands and manage the pursuit process through opportunity qualification, facilitation of client meetings, and follow-up/assistance through sales closing
  • Analyze customer needs in terms of current business obstacles, identifying projects and scoping potential solution sales
  • Build a robust sales pipeline by prospecting for, identifying, qualifying and cultivating opportunities closing outside the calendar year
  • Target, develop and manage long-term client relationships/partnerships with decision makers at your prospects
  • Tactically identify and utilize appropriate entry point into retail/brand organizations
  • Collaborate with the FedEx e-commerce sales organization and our platform partners to develop opportunities and close deals
  • Collaborate with colleagues within FedEx Dataworks to support ongoing product development

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in selling in a consultative sales process and a matrixed selling environment
  • Four year degree from an accredited college institution
  • Direct experience nurturing meaningful relationships with managers and directors of e-commerce, marketing, and digital
  • Knowledge of eCommerce and selling a suite of products to the retail industry
  • Knowledge of the Supply Chain Industry and the suite of products within that industry
  • Proven negotiation and closing skills
  • Excellent listening skills and client-focus
  • An entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to take ownership for prospecting and developing a pipeline
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Strategic thinking capabilities and the ability to accomplish goals in a timely, productive and fiscally responsible manner
  • Consulting experience and/or MBA a plus
  • Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and/or digital marketing a plus

The successful candidate will first and foremost be a savvy, strategic and analytical business professional with a passion for new challenges. This individual will be a client-focused opportunity generator with an understanding of e-commerce, SAAS, Supply Chain and partnering with cross-functional teams. This individual will bring strong negotiation and revenue generating skills. S/he will have the ability to identify and execute new business opportunities and adapt to a complex internal and external environment.
