If you’ve been unsuccessfully macheteing your way through Tinder trying to find someone who will see Mista Cookie Jar & the Chocolate Chips at Lollapalooza this year, you’re in luck. There’s finally an app for that.
Introducing FanMatch, affectionately dubbed the “Tinder for music fans.” With FanMatch, it’s easier for avid festival goers to connect, meet, and hook-up with fellow music lovers at their favorite festivals this summer and fall.
"Until now meeting new people at concerts has pretty much been left to chance in the beer line," said co-founder Ellona Ferson in a statement. "Dating apps like Tinder aren't wired to show you who else is attending specific events, or to make plans in advance. FanMatch is designed to do exactly that."
Using the app is simple: when building a profile, users select which festivals they plan to attend and set their relationship preferences—that is, if they’re looking for friends, dating, or a hook-up. Once the profile is set, users can discover and “like” other profiles in a similar fashion to other popular dating apps.
While chatting with matches is free, users only get a limited amount of free daily chats with people they haven’t matched with. But FanMatch also offers unlockable, unlimited chatting for $3.99 (7 days), $9.99 (1 month), and $19.99 (3 months).
"We're using mobile technology to enhance the social nature of music festivals and the people who attend them," Ferson said. "Our hope is to turn festivals of strangers into playgrounds of friends."
FanMatch is available now in beta on both Apple and Android systems.
