These 7 Chicago tech companies made high-level hires in June

A slew of faces both familiar and new were added to the executive rosters of several Chicago tech companies this month. You can find details of the new lineups below.

ActiveCampaign announced the arrival of Tony Newcome as CTO. The AI-driven sales and marketing software provider took on the former Salesforce and ExactTarget staffer to improve tech strategy and boost growth. 

 

G2 Crowd Execs

Several founding members of G2 Crowd, a B2B software review platform, return to leadership roles in the company after spending time away to pursue opportunities elsewhere. Co-founder Godard Abel takes the title of CEO after a seven-year hiatus during which he successfully founded and sold two startups. Tim Handorf, acting CEO prior to Abel’s return, moves to lead the business’s engineering, product, design research and culture sectors as president. The third original band member to make a triumphant return is co-founder Matt Gorniak, filling the role of chief revenue officer after departing from his role as SVP at Salesforce.

Steven Jones was added to the team at Centro, a SaaS company focused on digital advertising, as VP of product development. He brings with him a quarter of a century of experience in the field, having developed software for a number of large-scale enterprises across multiple industries.

Cory Cowgill and Paul Ybarra were newly added to the leadership team at Fusion, a Chicago-based cloud security company. Cowgill is the new vice president and chief technology officer, while Ybarra takes point as senior vice president and chief revenue officer. The company is expected to see 40 percent year-over-year business growth in addition to facilitating a European expansion this year. These new hires will have their hands full.

Matt McNally was named as the incoming CEO of Outcome Health following the departure of founder and former CEO Rishi Shah. McNally, who will be leaving a group president and chief media officer role at Publicis, will step into his new position in July. The healthtech company will have McNally splitting his time between New York and Chicago, and his first order of business will be re-establishing trust with advertisers.

CardX, a provider of zero-fee debit and credit card transactions for retailers, brings in Venson Kuchipudi as their senior vice president for technology. Kuchipudi was founder and CEO of Life Net Inc. He will bring his knowledge of tech to his leadership role overseeing the company’s new software, products and web applications.

Rumi Morales was announced as a partner at the London-based Outlier Ventures. Morales, who founded CME Ventures and has a long history of working in Chicago’s fintech scene, will remain in the Windy City to work with the blockchain and tech investment firm’s U.S. portfolio companies. She will probably be too busy to give you advice on when to sell your Dogecoin.
