High-profile cyberattacks make national headlines frequently, and these events often cost companies millions to remedy. The Colonial Pipeline attack cost the company $4.4 million in ransom alone. These events are also a frequent reminder of the severity of cyberattacks, which happen daily. It is up to cybersecurity firms to prevent them. One firm working to keep tech and data secured is Illinois-based DOT Security and it recently opened a new operations center.

DOT Security was founded in 2021 as the number of cyberattacks ran rampant across the country and world. Recently, the comapny announced the grand opening of its new operations center in Mettawa, about an hours drive from downtown Chicago.

DOT Security takes a holistic approach to secure clients from cyberattacks and offers tailored services that include network monitoring to prevent attacks, data recovery and backup and expert security consulting. The company’s solutions also meet compliance guidelines and can work with businesses in various industries such as finance, construction, healthcare and government.

DOT’s new center features close to 19,000 square feet of real estate and a colossal LED display inside the building that is used to monitor client networks.

In addition to a new building, the one-year-old startup is on track to create more than 150 jobs in Illinois. It also has plans to continue expanding across the Midwest and then into the West Coast.

“Many organizations cannot keep up with the growing scale and scope of security operations, increasing the potential for a devastating cyberattack or data breach,” Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, who attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new center, said in a statement. “That is what makes companies like DOT Security, that stand ready to help businesses of all sizes right here in Illinois and across the country, so critical to our future.”
