At ActiveCampaign, the phrase “diversity, inclusion and belonging” is more than a promise. It’s baked into company culture through core company values, a variety of employee resource groups, one-on-one mentorship opportunities, learning and development processes and more. Employees are encouraged to bring their lived experiences into the office, allowing them to connect with teammates as individuals. “Only when different voices feel supported and safe can they speak up," one employee said.

Prioritizing inclusivity
Engaging program creation
As a leader of one of ActiveCampaign’s ERGs, Marion makes it her goal to develop thoughtful programming that fosters openness, well-being and inclusivity. Members of ActivelyBlack, for example, have the chance to attend wellness workshops each quarter. Next on the agenda? A mental health workshop and discussion facilitated by a Black and Brown-owned wellness studio in partnership with ActivelyLatinx.

Olivia Wong
Senior Engineering Manager
Wong has learned the benefits of fostering a community that prioritizes diversity of thought by managing an engineering team composed entirely of underrepresented people in tech. She says that when the company preaches psychological safety, kindness and acceptance as a matter of course, it’s that much easier to accomplish. Outside of work, Wong is a member of Women Influence Chicago and AnitaB.org.
It’s only when we open our hearts, our minds and our environments to those who are different from us that we can experience a moment of illumination.
PRIDE IN ACTIVEPRIDE
ActiveCampaign’s LGBTQIA+ ERG brings community and fun
During Cole Nelson’s onboarding, ActiveCampaign encouraged him to get involved with any of their seven ERGs. Nelson decided to join ActivePride, whose mission is to build a space for LGBTQIA+ employees and advocate their needs to management. He’s now their membership engagement lead and took an active role in planning Pride events this past year. The highlight? Pride Rooftop. “We sourced food, beverage and labor using local LGBTQIA+ vendors, and invited our employees up to our gorgeous rooftop for a mixer,” he said. The event was a great chance to relax and reflect on Pride.
