Postdoctoral researcher to develop, synthesize, and characterize NV diamond membrane quantum sensors for precision electromagnetic field mapping in high-energy physics. Integrate sensors into microelectronic and photonic platforms, validate performance in lab and operational testbeds, and help create scalable, field-ready modules. Work spans detector R&D, materials science, and quantum information science within interdisciplinary teams.

Perform design, fabrication, and characterization of single-electron-on-solid-neon qubit devices to realize high-fidelity two-qubit gates. Fabricate devices in CNM cleanroom, measure and characterize in CNM quantum labs, run low-temperature and microwave experiments, study quantum physics, and collaborate with internal and external team members.

Lead design, development, integration, and sustainment of laboratory and field-deployable sensing, monitoring, and control systems. Maintain and improve software tools, design hardware/firmware/PCB solutions, develop embedded Linux systems, implement secure networked communications and DSP in real-time, create GUIs and databases, and support field deployments and system modernization.

Develop and apply ML and statistical methods for experimental data, maintain and document analysis methods, collaborate with engineers to transition algorithms to prototypes, support field integration and testing, and conduct theoretical and experimental evaluation. Travel up to 15% for deployments and data collection.

Lead Argonne's Infrastructure Services organization (400+ staff) to deliver safe, compliant, resilient campus operations across facilities, utilities, waste, site services, and project portfolios. Set strategy, governance, budgets, and performance metrics; partner with scientific leadership and regulators; use asset-management systems and analytics to improve reliability, cost-effectiveness, and stewardship; develop leadership, succession, and continuous-improvement practices to support the laboratory mission.

Partner with the Head of Executive Communications to craft strategic messaging for Argonne’s top leaders. Produce speeches, presentations, briefings, and executive materials; prepare leaders for engagements; manage projects, stakeholders, and approvals; translate complex science into clear narratives; improve measurement and processes; and serve on the crisis response team to strengthen executive visibility and institutional priorities.

Perform quantum mechanical calculations to study catalytic active sites and reaction mechanisms, develop agentic and physics-aware AI/ML models to accelerate catalysis discovery, collaborate with experimental teams, and communicate results via publications and presentations.

Design and perform organic synthesis to create new battery electrolyte materials; run analytical and electrochemical tests; collect, analyze, and report data; maintain lab notebooks and follow safety protocols while collaborating with team members.

Lead research developing AI/ML methods and closed-loop experimental workflows for autonomous nanoscale materials synthesis. Implement active learning, inverse design, and real-time multimodal data analysis; integrate edge, beamline, and HPC infrastructures; collaborate with synthesis and characterization teams; publish and guide future autonomous materials research.

Lead and manage the laboratory electrical safety program, serving as SME and AHJ. Develop policies, training, inspections, audits, and incident investigations; oversee QEW program and mentor staff while ensuring compliance with codes and DOE 10 CFR 851.

Provide administrative support to directors including scheduling and calendar management, travel and expense processing, meeting coordination, document preparation and transcription, tracking action items, maintaining electronic files, processing foreign national site access, and performing confidential or sensitive office tasks with attention to detail and timeliness.

Provide ESH guidance and oversight for accelerator operations, high-voltage, RF, and cryogenic systems. Lead hazard analysis, work planning, inspections, incident investigations, policy recommendations, and represent ESH with DOE and Argonne stakeholders. Support line management and workers to ensure compliance with DOE orders, NFPA 70E, and other safety standards.

Operate and commission the In Situ Nanoprobe (ISN); support user experiments and x-ray data analysis; collaborate to develop scientific applications and in situ sample environments; develop advanced microscopy methods and instrumentation for the upgraded APS source; present results at conferences and in journals; perform other assigned duties.

Provide operational and strategic HR support to the Physical Sciences and Engineering Directorate. Serve as HR liaison, advise on employee relations, support recruitment, performance management, compensation, workforce planning, HR communications, records management, and HR projects while ensuring policy compliance and confidentiality.

Support multi-cloud, Kubernetes-based infrastructure for DOE's American Science Cloud. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate provisioning (Terraform/OpenTofu), operate managed clusters (EKS/AKS/GKE), implement DevSecOps controls, configure monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana/Nagios), manage image registries, and provide production operational support and vendor coordination.

Lead modernization and support of control systems for 60+ insertion devices and magnetic measurement labs using EPICS. Integrate AI/ML for diagnostics and predictive maintenance, design control architectures for next-generation light sources, manage R&D projects, collaborate across institutions, publish research, and mentor junior staff.

Design, fabricate, and characterize superconducting photonic quantum devices in CNM cleanrooms and quantum labs. Conduct local and network quantum experiments, collaborate with Argonne, UChicago, and external partners, and contribute to device development including qubits and microwave-optical transducers.

Perform design and fabrication of electrochemical reactor prototypes, run electrodeposition experiments in deep eutectic solvents, characterize mass transfer and selectivity under flow, screen and tune DES compositions, collaborate with computational modelers, and prepare reports, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.

Develop and deploy AI/ML methods (including LLMs/agentic AI) for tuning, diagnosis, control, and automation of particle accelerators. Test methods experimentally on the APS injector and upgraded storage ring, support operator decision-making, automate workflows, and analyze beam and system data.

Lead and perform independent and collaborative experimental research using UHV surface science and scanning probe microscopy (STM/STS/AFM). Support internal and external CNM users, develop new experimental capabilities, communicate results, and contribute to multidisciplinary research programs in nanoscience and surface science.
