Owns end-to-end mechanical design, documentation, prototyping, integration, and commissioning of industrial automation systems and robotic end-of-arm tooling. Responsibilities include SolidWorks modeling, drawings, BOMs, release control, troubleshooting, testing, root-cause analysis, design for manufacturability, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement. The role works hands-on on the shop floor and collaborates across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, product, and deployment teams.

Own internal IT operations, including employee support, onboarding and offboarding, endpoint and SaaS administration, identity and access management, hardware inventory, office networking, AV, physical-security technology, and vendor relationships. Maintain baseline security controls and support SOC 2 compliance. Identify repetitive work and build automations using AI, APIs, scripts, integrations, and lightweight tools. Serve as the onsite technology owner for the Bolingbrook office and warehouse.

Own and optimize Formic’s GTM technology stack to drive qualified lead growth. Build AI-powered, multi-channel outreach workflows; integrate marketing and sales platforms; create campaign assets; implement tracking, attribution, dashboards, and reporting; analyze experiments; maintain data quality; evaluate new tools; and partner with Marketing, Sales, RevOps, content, and design on scalable campaigns.

Serve as the primary pre-sales technical partner for manufacturing customers. Lead discovery, requirements gathering, production-data and CAD analysis, robotic automation solution design, scoping, cost estimation, proposal support, customer design reviews, and handoffs to deployment. Manage multiple technical workstreams, improve standard designs and procedures, identify offering gaps, and visit customer sites for discovery and validation. Expertise in palletizing or case packing and major six-axis robot platforms is preferred.

Support robotics deployments and operational execution through cross-functional coordination, documentation, installation readiness, customer materials, issue tracking, testing, validation, and process improvement. The intern will work with engineers, technicians, vendors, customers, and internal teams while helping maintain SOPs, playbooks, checklists, and integration documentation for automation systems in manufacturing environments.

Own and operate the full GTM tech stack to design, deploy, and measure AI-powered, multi-channel outbound campaigns. Build automated workflows, tracking, dashboards, and integrations; collaborate with Sales, RevOps, content, and design to scale qualified lead generation and improve campaign ROI through testing and iterative optimization.

The Controls & Automation Engineer diagnoses and resolves automation failures, enhances system reliability, and mentors technicians to ensure optimal robotic performance in manufacturing environments.

Provide technical escalation support for Field Service Engineers across assigned automation systems. Diagnose failures using logs, reproduce issues in-house, test PLC/robot/software/electrical fixes, document troubleshooting guides, identify fleet-wide trends, and drive permanent product fixes with Engineering. Work on-site in Bolingbrook, IL or Oakland, CA and travel occasionally.

Support month-end close and general ledger accounting, prepare journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting. Assist audit readiness and respond to auditor requests. Partner on inventory management, process improvements, and documentation to increase accuracy and scalability.

Lead accounting and controls during rapid growth: support first financial audit, manage month/quarter/year-end close, prepare complex technical accounting (ASC 606/842/718), design and maintain internal controls, drive ERP and automation improvements, document processes, and partner across finance to improve accounting operations and audit readiness.

As Robotics & Automation Project Engineer, you will ensure reliability of robotic systems, diagnose failures, implement improvements, and support operations across manufacturing environments.

Manage the deployment of robotics automation solutions, oversee project scopes, track progress, resolve issues, and refine internal processes.
