Role Overview

Vizit is looking for an Accounting Manager to run the company’s entire accounting function: general ledger, close, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and tax compliance.

This is a hands-on role with no accounting staff beneath it. You own execution end to end, from daily bookkeeping through monthly close, tax filings, and payroll. The scope is closer to a small-company Controller than a staff accountant, and the title reflects the stage rather than the level of ownership. You report to the CFO/COO and work directly with the outside CPA firm, auditors, and vendors.

This suits someone who has been the lead accountant at a small or growth-stage company, is comfortable building process and documentation from nothing, and would rather own the whole function than manage one slice of it.

What You’ll Do

  • Own full-cycle GL accounting: journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, and the workpapers behind them.
  • Run monthly and year-end close on a 5–7 business day timeline, and prepare the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow for CFO/COO review.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts and keep month-over-month reporting consistent.
  • Own accounts receivable: customer invoicing, subscription and contract billing schedules, AR aging, collections, and cash application.
  • Own accounts payable: vendor invoices, payment runs (ACH, wire, check), corporate card coding, W-9/1099 records, and expense reimbursement review.
  • Run end-to-end payroll through the payroll provider for multi-state employees, including benefits deductions, garnishments, and tax withholding, and reconcile the payroll register to the GL each cycle.
  • Manage tax compliance: state and local registrations, new-state nexus, sales/use tax filing, 1099s, and coordination with the outside CPA on income tax, R&D credit studies, and franchise tax.
  • Build and maintain internal controls appropriate to the company’s size, and improve process and automation as transaction volume grows.
  • Serve as the primary contact for annual audits or reviews and for tax authority inquiries.

What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle ownership at a small or growth-stage company.
  • A record of operating as a company’s lead accounting resource without a finance team behind you.
  • Working knowledge of SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606) and deferred revenue accounting.
  • Hands-on payroll experience, including multi-state compliance.
  • Experience with multi-state tax registrations and sales/use tax filing.
  • Proficiency in a modern accounting system (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or similar) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for direct work with the CFO/COO, auditors, and tax advisors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience preparing for or supporting an external financial statement audit or review.
  • Experience at a B2B SaaS company under 100 employees.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first six months, you will have:

  • Take the full accounting function off the CFO/COO’s plate and run it independently.
  • Closed the books in 5–7 business days with clean, reviewable workpapers.
  • Delivered monthly financial statements the CFO/COO trusts without rework.
  • Brought tax registrations and sales/use tax filings current across every state with nexus.

Compensation and Benefits

$130,000 – $150,000 base salary, depending on experience. Vizit offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), and flexible time off.
