About the Program:

The Actuarial Career Development Program (ACDP) at Strongpoint Partners is a structured development experience designed to cultivate high-quality actuarial talent and prepare participants for successful careers in actuarial services and combo plan administration, with a long-term pathway toward Enrolled Actuary (EA) status.

This rotational program combines practical on‑the‑job experience, formal technical training, and professional development to build expertise in key actuarial processes across retirement plan administration.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a full-time, 9-month development program which will result in a full-time role with one of the Strongpoint Partners once complete. Candidates will spend the first week of the program in-person at our Chicago headquarters and then work remotely for the remainder of the program.

What You’ll Do

As an ACDP participant, you will:

Rotation Experience – Build Depth & Breadth

  • Data & Foundations: Census data validation, trust accounting, advanced Excel training, introduction to testing methodologies
  • Valuation & Compliance: Funding target and target normal cost calculations, accrued benefits, nondiscrimination and 415 compliance, plan document navigation
  • Reporting & Advanced Topics: 5500/Schedule SB preparation, PBGC premium calculations, participant statements, amendment and distribution packet support

Training & Growth

  • Receive ongoing technical training in Excel & VBA, actuarial modeling systems, valuation methods, nondiscrimination testing, and IRS guidance frameworks
  • Develop key soft skills including communication, time management, analytical problem‑solving, and professional judgment
  • Work hands‑on with actuarial teams and contribute meaningfully to client deliverables

Mentorship & Support

  • Primary Mentor: Monthly check‑ins, career coaching, exam planning assistance
  • Rotation Partner Contact: Technical guidance and support during each rotational assignment

Exams & Career Development

  • Begin or continue progress toward ASPPA exams with structured study support
  • Participants may allocate up to two hours in the morning (workload permitting) for exam study
  • Access in‑house study groups and prep sessions as part of the learning ecosystem
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1+ year of actuarial / pension / related experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or related field
  • Strong analytical capabilities and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Interest in pursuing ASPPA actuarial exams

Performance & Success Metrics

You’ll be evaluated on:

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency and independence on supervised plan work
  • Completion of rotation skills checklists and milestone achievements
  • Growth in soft‑skills and professional impact
  • Progress toward actuarial exam milestones
What Happens After the Program

Upon successful completion of the ACDP, participants will be assigned to full-time roles within one of the participating Strongpoint Partners. In these roles, they will:

  • Continue progressing through ASPPA exams
  • Take on increased analytic responsibility and plan autonomy
  • Begin building the 36‑month “responsible actuarial experience” required for EA eligibility

Pay Transparency Statement:

The anticipated pay for this position is $50,000 annually with an anticipated range of $60,000-$70,000 once in a full-time role following the completion of the program, (depending on role and partner specifics).

At Strongpoint Partners, our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum base pay for the posted position applicable to all locations across the US. Within the posted salary range, individual pay is determined by the geographic location, job related skills, experience, education, and certifications. Our total compensation package includes base pay plus a comprehensive benefits program.
