In this role, you be on a team responsible for developing requirements, designing hardware and software, implementing, integrating, and commissioning solutions for simulation labs used for rapid prototyping as well as formal verification. This position requires collaboration with several engineering test and systems engineering groups.  A strong foundation in electronic principles, schematics, and software coding and scripting, along with problem-solving skills to address engineering challenges, is required.

The Honeywell Aerospace building is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP / CSP / Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities
  1. Simulation Test Equipment Requirements Development:
    • Develop requirements for open and closed hardware-in-the-loop real-time simulation test equipment ensuring traceability to system level requirements. 
    • Develop test equipment V&V procedures.
  2. Simulation Test Equipment Design and Development: 

    • Develop high level designs for test systems including test stations and analog and digital circuits.       
    • Create detailed electronic schematics and review layouts for circuit boards, selecting components and designing equipment test racks using a combination of COTS and custom equipment.
    • Develop conceptual models and engineering prototypes to test and evaluate the functionality of electronic circuits and test systems.
    • Create detailed designs for test stations including electrical design and basic mechanical design.       Work with drafting group to document and review these designs.
    • Develop real-time control software for test stations using National Instruments LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI. 
    • Develop and present Test Equipment Preliminary and Critical Design presentations at Design Reviews to internal customers.
    • Coordinate manufacture of test equipment. 
    • Meet Project cost solution targets.

  3. Simulation Test Equipment Integration and Commissioning: 

    • Integrate simulation hardware and software ensuring compliance with test equipment requirements and compatibility with unit under test.   
    • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues. 
    • Execute formal V&V Plans and Procedures for Test Equipment, document results, and make recommendations for design improvements.
    • Train users on the usage of test software and hardware implementation.
    • Ensure regulatory compliance and meet internal customer expectations.

  4. Equipment Management: 

    • Collaborate with the Engineering support team to troubleshoot equipment issues and improve equipment downtime.

  5. Cross-Functional Collaboration: 
    • Work closely with systems engineers, software engineers, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electronic test systems with overall product designs.
    • Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and product management teams to identify and formalize test requirements and specifications.
    • Collaborate with project leads from conception through production, working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products on time.
    • Ensure compliance to Ergonomic and Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.


  6. Continuous Improvement: 
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements in simulation testing methodologies and techniques.
    • Stay informed about new testing technologies and industry trends to enhance testing capabilities.
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, aerospace engineering or science. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in test equipment design is desirable.
  • Experience in complex test setup designs and methodologies, ideally in a regulated industry such as aerospace or automotive.

WE VALUE

  • Knowledge of LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Python or other scripting languages. 
  • Understanding the principles of systems engineering and requirements management.
  • Knowledge of aerospace environmental control systems.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies. 
  • Familiarity with Real-Time systems, RT Linux, MATLAB, Simulink and Simscape is a plus.
  • Experience in similar test organizations in aerospace engineering or related industries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

The annual base salary for this position starts at $99,100. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
