Advisory Intern, Risk, Claims Recovery - Winter 2027 (Chicago, Dallas, Grand Rapids)
Job Summary:
As an Intern in the BDO Advisory practice, you will begin to utilize your educational background as well as your organizational skills as you serve the Firm's dynamic client base. This position will assist in problem solving and fact-finding, working side-by-side with more experienced team members who will provide direction, coaching and learning opportunities. This role provides the opportunity to gain an understanding of the business by working on various stages of engagements, including areas of damages & lost profits, fraud analyses, client industry research and other matters as necessary.
Job Duties:
- Participates in the quantification of client matters including damages & lost profits claims, product recall matters, data breaches/cyber security incidents, and other matters as required
- Participates in engagement fact finding, including the review of financial records and discussions with client contacts
- Analyzes financial information to establish and support client claims
- Prepares financial schedules and client work products to demonstrate key findings and conclusions
- Researches new business opportunities at the direction of practice leadership
- Other duties as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or Risk Management, required
Experience
- Professional client service experience, preferred
License(s)/Certification(s)
- Actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA, preferred
Software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, preferred

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Ability to follow instructions as directed
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
California Range: $40.00/hr - $45.00/hr
Colorado Range: $34.00/hr - $38.00/hr
Illinois Range: $36.00/hr - $40.00/hr
Maryland Range: $34.00/hr - $38.00/hr
Massachusetts Range: $36.00/hr - $40.00/hr
Minnesota Range: $32.00/hr - $36.00/hr
New Jersey Range: $38.00/hr - $42.00/hr
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $36.00/hr - $40.00/hr
Washington Range: $35.00/hr - $40.00/hr
Washington DC Range: $34.00/hr - $38.00/hr
