The Opportunity

AI is rapidly transforming the world. Whether it’s developing the next generation of human-level intelligence, enhancing voice assistants, or enabling researchers to analyze genetic markers at scale, AI is increasingly integrated into various aspects of our daily lives.

Arize AI is the leading AI observability and evaluation platform, empowering AI engineers to build and deploy high-performing, reliable models. As the AI landscape shifts from traditional ML to generative AI and agentic systems, Arize ensures teams have the tools to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve AI in production.

About Arize Phoenix

Our open source platform enables developers to build LLM-powered applications with safety and observability at their core. With hundreds of thousands of monthly downloads, Arize Phoenix serves everyone from Fortune 500 companies to cutting-edge startups. We're backed by TCV, Foundation Capital, Swift Ventures, and Battery Ventures.

The Role

As an Application Engineer on the Open Source team, you'll be the critical bridge between Arize Phoenix and the community we serve. Your mission is to ensure users successfully adopt and implement Arize Phoenix across diverse AI use cases. This hybrid role combines technical problem-solving with community engagement – one day you might build a demonstration app showcasing a new feature, the next you could be running a workshop at a tech conference or troubleshooting with users in our Slack community.

This is an ideal entry point for new computer science graduates or driven professionals transitioning into tech who have strong technical foundations and exceptional communication skills. You'll have a direct impact on product adoption while gaining invaluable experience across the AI ecosystem.

For our most successful team members, this role has served as a frequent internal launching pad to other senior technical roles, engineering, and even product management.

What You'll Work On
  • Community Support: Guide users through implementing tracing, experimentation, and evaluation tools for their LLM applications
  • Solution Building: Create example applications, demos, and documentation that showcase effective use of our platform
  • Technical Outreach: Represent Arize at events, run office hours, and engage with the AI developer community
  • Product Advocacy: Collect user feedback, advocate for community needs, and help prioritize feature development
  • Code Contribution: Develop improvements to our core libraries based on community interactions and needs
What Makes You Right for This Role
  • Recent CS graduate or professional with equivalent practical coding experience
  • Solid foundation in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, and modern software development practices
  • Genuine passion for AI/ML technologies and their practical applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – you can explain complex technical concepts clearly
Our Values
  • Technical Versatility: Switch between infrastructure and application development seamlessly
  • Intellectual Horsepower: Combine sharp technical skills with execution excellence
  • Growth Mindset: Learn new technologies rapidly and embrace challenges
  • Team Elevation: Mentor others and raise the bar through collaboration
  • Customer Focus: Translate user feedback into features with urgency

The estimated annual salary and variable compensation for this role is between $100,000 - $120,000, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is determined based upon a variety of job related factors that may include: transferable work experience, skill sets, and qualifications. Total compensation also includes a comprehensive benefit package, including: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, unlimited paid time off, generous parental leave plan, and others for mental and wellness support.

While we are a remote-first company, we have opened offices in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area, as an option for those in those cities who wish to work in-person. For all other employees, there is a WFH monthly stipend to pay for co-working spaces.

More About Arize

Arize’s mission is to make the world’s AI work and work for the people. Our founders came together through a common frustration: investments in AI are growing rapidly across businesses and organizations of all types, yet it is incredibly difficult to understand why a machine learning model behaves the way it does after it is deployed into the real world.
