The Opportunity

The Applications Analyst is the primary support person for the Naviga Advertising and Circulation systems responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing these business applications to ensure effective and efficient operation across the organization. This role involves analyzing business requirements, configuring software solutions, troubleshooting application issues, coordinating upgrades, and collaborating with end users and vendors to improve system performance and usability.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain relationships, open trouble tickets, work to resolve issues, test enhancements and be available outside working hours with vendor support staff for cloud applications
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, user guides and training materials
  • Stay updated on current technologies
  • Configure, test, and implement new applications, modules, and system enhancements
  • Analyze and document business processes and user requirements to improve application functionality
  • Work with business users, IT Staff, and external Vendors  to identify organizational needs for new applications, changes in functionality, to existing applications
  • Provide user training and technical support for applications
  • Manage/lead projects related to application development, migration or optimization
  • Responsible for supporting applications users’ company-wide, internally, and externally
  • Manage application upgrades, patches and integrations with other systems
  • Provide user training and technical support for applications
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot integrations and file transfers between applications and third-party vendors

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience managing and maintaining software and applications
  • Experience with MS Windows, Mac OS and iOS
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Apps and Adobe Suite products
  • 5+ years of experience with database management, data modeling, and querying 
  • Experience with Python, Java, HTML, and Perl scripts
  • Experience working with applications from Naviga and/or Brainworks is a plus
  • Experience working with Payway, Braintree, and other credit card processors
  • Experience in the newspaper industry is a plus

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent training and experience

Compensation

The expected pay range for this position is $68,000 to $84,500 per ANNUM.

Chicago Public Media provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position.  The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographical location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
