Job Description:

We are looking for an Assessment Content Manager who will be responsible for developing, organizing, and maintaining the content used in various assessment types. This role involves creation of learning objectives, question creation support with GenAI and Author community, review process, publication, and maintenance. Assessment content managers often work closely with subject matter experts and curriculum managers to ensure that the content is accurate, valid, and reliable.

We are seeking a diligent person to join our team to create high-quality assessments that accurately measure skills, knowledge, and competencies. You will craft valid, reliable, and engaging assessments that drive learning and performance outcomes.

Whether it's building formative quizzes, high-stakes certification prep, or adaptive assessments, you’ll play a key part in ensuring learners are accurately and fairly evaluated across a variety of technical and professional domains.

What you’ll do:

  • Designing, creating, and reviewing assessment items such as multiple-choice questions, case studies, or performance tasks to develop valid and reliable assessments that align with learning objectives and competency frameworks.

  • Ensuring that assessment content aligns with curriculum standards, learning objectives, and educational goals.

  • Reviewing and editing assessment content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and fairness.

  • Establishing guidelines and standards for creating assessment content to maintain consistency and reliability.

  • Use assessment platforms or software tools to create and deliver assessments effectively.

  • Analyzing assessment results to evaluate the effectiveness of content and identify areas for improvement.

  • Documenting processes, procedures, and decisions related to assessment content development.

  • Apply evidence-based assessment design principles to ensure fairness, inclusivity, and accessibility. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure technical accuracy and relevance of content.

  • Write, edit, and review high-quality assessment items (e.g., multiple choice, multiple select, coding tasks, scenarios) while ensuring consistency in tone, difficulty level, and formatting across all items.

  • Use item analysis and psychometric data to revise and improve assessment items based on performance and user feedback. Support continuous improvement efforts by staying current with assessment trends, learning science, and industry standards (e.g., AERA, APA, NCME).

  • Participate in test blueprinting, standard-setting, and other validation activities.

  • Experiment and refinement of the use of Generative AI for assessment question creation.

Experience you’ll bring:

  • Experience in training, development, or a related field.

  • Experience with SaaS software (eg. ZenDesk, Asana, Confluence, and Smartsheet).

  • Experience with technical/IT content or certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, Python, security).

  • Background in psychometrics or data analysis using tools like Excel, R, or SPSS.

  • Knowledge of accessibility and universal design for learning (UDL) standards.

  • Experience with adaptive testing or automated assessment tools.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of assessment development or instructional design, or related experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, psychometrics, or a related field.

  • Strong command of assessment types, taxonomy, and principles of validity and reliability.

  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMSs), authoring tools, and item banks.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $67,200 - $93,300 USD. Pluralsight's pay ranges vary based on work location. Talent Acquisition can share more detail during the hiring process when applicable. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. In addition to the base salary, this role may also be eligible for benefits and bonuses.
