Assist the Controller managing accounting functions including accounts payable, pledge and donated securities accounting, payroll backup, month-end close, GAAP financial statements and disclosures, pension and tax audit support, regulatory filings, endowment tracking, balance sheet analysis, and process automation initiatives.

Summary Description of Position:
Reporting to the Controller, assist in managing the financial activities in the Accounting Department. Oversee and manage the department accounting group, consisting of, Accounts Payable, pledge accounting, donated securities, and payroll backup.
Principal Duties:
- Assist in financial statements audited in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles - including all statements and required note disclosures.
- Assist DB & DC Pension Audits including preparation of supporting schedules as needed.
- Assist with independent tax specialists to provide all required schedules for reporting on Form 990 for Federation.
- Responsible for all legal and regulatory reporting (including but not limited to property tax filing, unclaimed property – escheat filing, welfare exemptions, etc.).
- Oversees Accounts Payable function and 1099 reporting.
- Establish best practices for revenue and AP.
- Assist the Controller to develop practices and policies to ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, authorized and that assets are secure (restricted access).
- Reviews, maintains, and reconciles the general ledger timely on a monthly basis.
- Ensures the appropriate processes are in place to obtain timely and process the information needed to close.
- Supervises and reviews the monthly input of all revenue and expense transactions into the general ledger from Donor Management system. Ensures proper recognition in accordance with ASC 606, as applicable for non-profit.
- Review monthly and quarterly financial statements for accuracy.
- Assist with monthly financial reporting and quarterly GAAP financial statements.
- Track and review UJFEF and other Endowment Accounts.
- Conduct monthly analysis and review of Balance Sheet accounts.
- Participate in implementation of additional projects and automation of the processes as needed and directed by the Controller/CFO.
Additional Duties:
Be available to supervisor for additional assignments, as required, including assisting with the Campaign.
Education & Experience Required For Position:
- BA Accounting Degree with CPA preferred 4 years prior financial experience in senior financial management.
- Not-for-profit or social agency experience required.
- Must be able to work independently; excellent analytical and people skills required.
- Strong knowledge and experience with personal computers, spread sheets, word processing and computer-based accounting systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral; appropriate education and related experience strongly desired.
- A hybrid work model will be implemented for certain positions during transition back to worksite(s). This position must report to worksite on non-remote workdays.
