We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director of IT Infrastructure Operations to join our fast-growing, energetic, and cloud-first biotechnology company. The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented thinker with technical experience and a focus on collaboration, customer service, user experience, and the effective support of business goals. This role requires an individual who can guide projects to completion with quality and efficiency in coordination with our MSP, while also contributing directly with strong technical skills. In this newly created position, you will have the opportunity to build and grow our infrastructure operations through robust cloud solutions that support Apogee's growth and scientific breakthroughs while fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Propel effective delivery of IT Infrastructure services like Microsoft Entra, Intune, M365/Teams, Azure, Smartsheet, Zoom, IAM, and disaster recovery, through both your own technical ability and through working with others. Foster a collaborative and customer-service-focused culture within the team and with our MSP-based Helpdesk and SOC teams.
- Work closely with IT peers as well as business teams to understand their needs and develop solutions that support business goals. Facilitate communication and collaboration between IT and other teams.
- Ensure exceptional customer service and user experience by implementing best practices and continuous improvement processes. Address and resolve Infrastructure issues promptly and effectively.
- Design and implement solutions that enhance user experience and meet the evolving needs of the company. Continuously monitor and improve IT systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Provide strong project management leadership, prioritizing tasks and managing resources effectively to meet deadlines and objectives. Steer IT infrastructure projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality. Utilize project management methodologies to manage resources and timelines.
- Build knowledge of how our business and industry operate, to build and deliver Infrastructure solutions that maximally boost company effectiveness.
- Partner with IT team members to execute the organization’s technology strategy, aligned with company goals, the biotech industry's best practices, and regulatory requirements. Stay informed of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the company's IT infrastructure remains competitive and innovative.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring they deliver high-quality services and support. Negotiate contracts and agreements to achieve the best value for the company. Ensure the delivery of superior results within the terms of various SOWs. Manage requirements and expectations within project constraints.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Extensive knowledge of IT Infrastructure, such as Azure, Okta, M365, and IAM, with hands-on experience in implementing, architecting, and managing infrastructure operations and services
- A minimum of 7 years of IT Infrastructure experience, including working across teams and vendors
- Proven experience in working with MSP-based support teams, driving efficiency, business results, and high user satisfaction
- Experience in a high-growth biotech or pharmaceutical company environment
- Strong project management skills with a high sense of urgency, ability to collaborate and influence effectively cross-functionally
- Proven ability to effectively execute IT projects within designated program budgets, timelines, and compliance guidelines
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to present to a variety of stakeholders, and tailor the message accordingly

- Relevant certifications are a plus
- Ability and willingness to travel appropriately 10 – 15%
The anticipated salary range for candidates for this role will be $160,000-$185,000/ year. The final salary offered will depend on several factors, which may include, but is not limited to relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.
