Purpose and Job Summary:

In July 2025, ORIX announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which ORIX USA would acquire a majority equity ownership of Hilco Global. This will be the foundation of a new asset-based investing arm, which will combine Hilco Global’s expertise in and access to tangible and intangible assets with ORIX USA’s capital and lending capabilities to capture this growing, compelling market opportunity.

Hilco Global has built a differentiated track record by harnessing the strength of its people and proprietary asset-level data to drive a true origination and execution advantage. Now, in partnership with ORIX, Hilco is launching a dedicated Asset Management platform to expand its investing capabilities. As part of this initiative, we are growing our investment team in both our Chicago and New York offices.

We are seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial Associate to play a key role in the execution of unique cross-capital structure, asset-based investment opportunities and serve as a founding team member of the newly launched Hilco Asset Management platform.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive supporting engine of asset-based and structured credit investments, including diligence, financial modeling, and documentation
  • Execute comprehensive credit underwriting across the capital structure, with a focus on complex, collateral-backed investments (e.g., ABL, FILO, DIP, IP-backed, Asset Acquisitions, etc)
  • Actively support the buildout of the investment platform, including origination strategy, internal infrastructure, and go-to-market positioning
  • Develop detailed investment memoranda for internal IC approval and external capital partners
  • Support the team with borrowers, intermediaries, and corporate / sponsor relationships, building long-term connectivity across the market
  • Collaborate with internal Hilco valuation, liquidation, and appraisal teams to leverage firmwide insights into asset value recovery and downside protection
  • Support ongoing portfolio monitoring and asset management including covenant compliance, amendment processes, and reporting
  • Track deal pipeline and work with the operations team to ensure deals are properly booked into internal position and risk reporting systems

Travel Requirements - 10%

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business or other related field
  • 2 – 4 years of experience in private credit, investment banking, asset-based lending (commercial banking), special situations, or restructuring

Required:

  • Strong foundational skills in financial modeling, credit analysis, and due diligence
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the execution of debt or structured credit transactions ideally with collateral-backed structures
  • Ability to draft and synthesize investment materials, including memos and internal presentations
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, capable of managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset and a desire to learn from senior team members
  • Interest in working in an entrepreneurial setting with exposure to complex deal structures and cross-capital solutions

Annual base salary gross: $135,000 - $155,000 (NY and IL only).  The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end of ORIX’s salary for this position based on geography. Actual base salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base pay is one component of ORIX’s total compensation package for employees.
