About the Role:

In this Chicago-based hybrid role, this Backend Software Engineer will work with an incredibly talented team to design and engineer our FinTech Platform. This individual will build and scale the back-end services that power Halo’s platform and systems, and will have the ability to immediately impact Halo’s success.

Primary Responsibilities 

• Responsible for back-end web development
• Develop, test and maintain complex Python-based financial applications, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services.
• Collaborate with your team to design new and enhanced features.
• Successfully integrate data between various systems.
• Write and maintain documentation and ensure that product quality and performance SLAs are consistently met.
• Ensure the scalability and quality of all code.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related software engineering field 
• 2+ years engineering experience, with at least 1 year working in Python
• Technical skills to include;
  1. Flask, SQLAlchemy, Jinja2
  2. Docker
  3. Git
  4. AWS
  5. SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis)
  6. Bash
• Excited by new opportunities learn, take ownership, and collaborate on projects that involve various functions and levels of co-workers
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

• This is a Chicago-based hybrid role, working 3 days/week in our downtown Chicago office.
