Job Summary

The Benefits Manager plays a vital role in managing and administering employee benefits programs within our organization. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about employee well-being, possess strong organizational skills, and thrive in a dynamic work environment. The Benefits Manager also oversees and administers leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), worker’s compensation, state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans.

Key Duties

Benefits Management

  • Provide daily oversight of all employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, wellness, and ancillary offerings.
  • Ensure benefit programs remain competitive, cost‑effective, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals and employee needs.
  • Design, manage, and continuously improve benefits enrollment and onboarding workflows, ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and a positive employee experience.
  • Work with the Director of HRIS on benefits‑related HRIS projects, including system enhancements and integration efforts during acquisitions.
  • Develop and execute clear, accessible communication strategies to educate employees on benefit options, plan updates, and enrollment timelines.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex benefits inquiries, providing timely, accurate, and employee‑centered support on eligibility, coverage, and claims issues.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing employee benefits and oversee compliance activities, including required reporting such as Form 5500 filings.
  • Foster strong relationships with benefits providers, brokers, and external vendors, including contract review, negotiation, and performance oversight.
  • Analyze benefits utilization, cost trends, and employee feedback to inform budgeting, program design, and long‑term benefits strategy.
  • Effectively use benefits systems (e.g., UKG/PlanSource), ensuring accurate records, efficient workflows, and reliable reporting.
  • Lead the annual open enrollment process, including planning, communication, system setup, vendor coordination, issue resolution, and post‑enrollment reconciliation.
  • Monitor benefits operations for data accuracy, system errors, feed failures, and approval needs, ensuring timely resolution and quality control.
  • Develop and deliver employee education initiatives, training sessions, and resources to support informed benefits decision‑
  • Champion continuous improvement by evaluating current programs and processes, identifying opportunities for enhancement, and implementing innovative, cost‑effective solutions.

Leave of Absence & Accommodation Management

  • Administration of FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, and all company time‑off programs while ensuring consistent, compliant, and employee‑centered processes.
  • Coach managers and employees on requirements and timelines, managing eligibility and documentation, maintaining appropriate communication during leave, and coordinating smooth return‑to‑work transitions.
  • Oversees ADA accommodations through a structured interactive process
  • Advise on how leave laws intersect with benefits programs, maintains accurate and confidential records, updates policies to reflect legal changes, and manages workers’ compensation cases, including claims, carrier communication, and OSHA documentation.
  • Perform Other Related Managerial Duties as Assigned

Education & Work Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with benefits administration software and HRIS platforms is a plus.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing employee benefits, such as ERISA, ACA, and HIPAA.
  • Must have 3-5 years of benefits admin experience
  • 1-2 years of benefits management experience preferred.

  • Uses independent judgment and discretion based upon the employee’s experience in the position and knowledge of the products, equipment, and services
  • Uses good judgement and possesses ethical work values

Physical Demands, Working Conditions, and General Employment Guidelines

  • Moderate or high levels of stress may be experienced in the performance of the job
  • Position is performed in a general office environment, home office, or approved remote workspace where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting to 25 lbs.

Equipment

  • Daily use of the Microsoft Teams (phone), computer, printer, and other routine office equipment
  • Must have internet access

Safety to Self and Others

  • Little responsibility for safety of others. Job is performed in an office setting where there are no hazardous materials or equipment

Working Conditions/Hazard

  • Position is performed in an open office environment or approved remote work location

    Salary Range

    • $90,000-100,000
