We're hiring: Business Attorney

Hargrove Firm is a national estate planning and tax law firm serving individuals, families, and business owners across all 50 states through a modern, technology-enabled legal platform. We partner with leading RIA firms and financial advisors to deliver sophisticated planning in a client-focused, accessible, and efficient way.

We're growing and looking to add a Business Attorney to our team to build out our business planning practice — helping entrepreneurs and business-owning clients structure, protect, and transition their businesses in coordination with their broader estate plan. We welcome candidates ranging from associate to senior level. The top of our range is reserved for attorneys bringing deep business succession, formation, asset protection and entity structuring experience and a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with RIA firms and financial advisors — client trust and advisor partnerships are core to how we work.

THE ROLE

This is a chance to practice business law without the traditional billable-hour model, while working with high-quality clients, respected financial advisors, and a collaborative national legal team. You'll guide business law clients through entity formation, governance, succession, compliance and exit planning, lead virtual client meetings, and help ensure each business plan is thoughtfully designed and properly coordinated with the client's estate plan.

This role is ideal for an attorney who is confident with clients, comfortable working with financial advisors, and excited to build out a modern business planning practice — whether you're a few years into your career or a seasoned practitioner ready for more complex work.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Conduct virtual client meetings to gather information, clarify goals, and present tailored business planning strategies

  • Draft and review business formation documents: LLC and corporate formations, operating agreements, bylaws, and related instruments

  • Advise on business succession and exit planning, including buy-sell agreements and ownership transition strategies

  • Coordinate business planning with clients' estate plans — entity structuring, asset protection, and intergenerational transfer of business interests

  • Lead client and advisor meetings with professionalism, clarity, and confidence

  • Collaborate with financial advisors, internal team members, and our of-counsel attorney network across all 50 states

  • Stay current on business, tax, and succession planning laws at the federal and state level

  • Advise clients on entity selection, ownership structuring, and business asset titling

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with financial advisors and their leadership team

  • Respond to client and advisor inquiries promptly and professionally

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school

  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing with at least one state bar

  • 3+ years of experience in business law, entity formation, and/or succession planning (more experienced candidates encouraged to apply: compensation scales with experience)

  • Strong knowledge of business entity structuring and succession planning; experience integrating business and estate planning a plus

  • Excellent client-facing skills: you can explain complex business and legal concepts clearly

  • Strong organizational, time-management, analytical, drafting, and writing skills

  • Comfort working in a technology-enabled legal practice

  • A genuine commitment to exceptional client service

WHY HARGROVE

  • No billable hour requirement

  • Competitive salary and benefits

  • 401(k) with employer match

  • Comprehensive health insurance

  • Paid time off

  • Flexible work arrangements

  • A collaborative, national team

Hargrove Firm is committed to diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
