The Business Intelligence (BI) Architect is a member of Beth Israel Lahey Health’s (BILH) Enterprise Data and Analytics team. This role uses HealthCare Domain knowledge to assist and work closely with the leadership team in designing, architecting, and developing Business Intelligence solutions catering to the current landscape across multiple Epic hospitals and bringing the BI solutions together to serve the Enterprise.
The Business Intelligence (BI) Architect is responsible for designing and optimizing the enterprise data and analytics ecosystem, with a focus on healthcare clinical and financial data sourced from Epic systems and others. This role blends deep expertise in data modeling, data warehousing, data integrity, data quality, and enterprise reporting using tools such as Power BI. The BI Architect will serve as a technical leader in building scalable, governed, and high quality data solutions that support financial, clinical, operational, and strategic decision making. When you add AI experience into the mix, the role expands into modern, advance intelligent analytics - leveraging machine learning, automation, and advanced data modeling to elevate BI capabilities.
The BI Architect collaborates with Analytics Business Partners, Data Architects, Technology Leads, Developers, and stakeholders, while also guiding analysts, engineers, and report writers. Success in this role requires strong business, architectural, and technical skills to deliver solutions that balance both business needs and technology capabilities.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models supporting clinical, operational, and financial analytics. Lead the design and development of enterprise data warehouses, data marts, dimensional models, and analytic semantic layers optimized for reporting and self‑service analytics. Architect and support data solutions built on Epic Clarity and Caboodle, and related data sources. Partner with Epic analysts, clinical informatics, and data engineering teams to understand data structures, workflows, and integration points. Support the development of financial, clinical, quality reporting, and operational reporting and dashboards. Ensure accurate extraction, transformation, and mapping of Epic clinical system data into enterprise data warehouses and reporting environments. Prepare and manage data for AI/ML training, inference, and automation. Oversee ETL/ELT pipelines to ensure efficient, reliable, and well‑documented data movement. Design and implement modern data warehousing technologies (cloud or on‑prem). Establish and maintain data quality frameworks, validation rules, and monitoring processes. Ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness across clinical and operational domains. Translate business and clinical requirements into scalable data structures aligned with industry best practices. Collaborate with data governance teams to define metadata, lineage, and master data standards. Architect and support enterprise reporting solutions using Power BI and other BI tools. Provide guidance to analysts and business users on best practices for dashboard design and data consumption. Collaborate with clinical, operational, and technical teams to deliver end‑to‑end analytics solutions.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree is required. 10+ years of related work experience is required in Business Intelligence, Analytics Frameworks and Data Architecture. Minimum of 5 years of experience in EPIC analytics products. Proficiency in SQL and ETL/ELT tools. Experience designing and supporting Power BI or similar BI platforms Experience working in a healthcare or clinical analytics environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Advanced Analytics, Data Science, AI/ML is a plus.

Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.

Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.

Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.



Pay Range:

$140,005.00 USD - $188,428.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
