We are seeking a talented individual to join our Career Consulting team at Mercer as a Summer Analyst. This role will be based in Chicago. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As a Summer Analyst on Mercer’s Career team, you will support client engagements across industries as an integral member of project teams. You’ll help diagnose client challenges and contribute to the design of strategic talent solutions across Rewards, HR Transformation, Talent Strategy, Workforce Planning & Analytics, and Communications. The role combines hands-on research, modeling, and problem solving with client interaction, working with senior clients and internal experts in a collaborative, learning-oriented environment. You will gain practical exposure to Mercer’s integrated approach to improving business performance through people.

We will count on you to:

  • Conduct research and analysis to understand industry and organization-specific issues that could include business strategy, corporate performance, compensation and rewards practices and trends, global expansion, and best practices in talent management  
  • Collect and examine data relevant to developing solutions tailored to the client’s needs   
  • Analyze clients' strategic, financial, and organizational information to provide insights for more senior members of the project team  
  • Participate in team brainstorming sessions to develop client recommendations  
  • Prepare client presentations, including recommendations to be presented to boards of directors, executives, senior management, and HR leaders 

What you need to have:

  • Progress toward a bachelor's degree   
  • Status as a currently enrolled student; candidates should have an expected graduation date between Fall 2026 and Spring 2027
  • Strong academic achievement demonstrated through rigorous course work, and the ability to successfully balance extra-curricular activities
  • A strong interest in human capital consulting
  • Legal work authorization to work in the U.S. on a permanent and ongoing basis without the need for sponsorship now or in the future is required

  • Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office— specifically Excel and PowerPoint  
  • Knowledge of data analysis, storytelling with data, and presentation design   
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills   
  • Intellectual curiosity; seeking opportunities to develop new skills and apply critical thinking and innovative solutions to solve problems  
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and communicate with others in a skillful, engaging, and proactive manner

  • Following the completion of the digital video interview, qualified candidates will be notified of next steps. Further timing and instructions will be provided at that time.  

The applicable hourly rate for this role is $27/hour.
