What you’ll do

 

  • Own and drive the Packet Core technical strategy, including target architecture and a multi-year modernization roadmap.
  • Define architectural evolution required to enable network slicing and AI-enabled services, including the transition toward distributed UPF and edge-ready deployments.
  • Identify any technology gaps and establish clear technical priorities, decision frameworks, and alignment across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
  • Accelerate AI/ML and agentic AI adoption for simplification and operational improvements (e.g., automation, optimization, anomaly detection, analytics-driven troubleshooting).
  • Partner with broader network architecture efforts to ensure coherent end-to-end design across Radio Access Network (RAN), transport, edge, and data center domains as well as address services like ISAC, physical AI.
  • Represent Packet Core architecture in senior technical forums; produce high-quality architecture artifacts and communicate trade-offs clearly.

What you’ll bring

 

  • Extensive experience in telecom network architecture and Packet Core (EPC and/or 5G Core), including service-based architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to define strategy, create roadmaps, and drive alignment across multiple organizations.
  • Strong systems engineering and architecture skills (performance, resiliency, scalability, security, and operability).
  • Proven leadership in complex, cross-functional technical programs, and architecture decision-making at senior levels.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML applications for network automation, optimization, and operational simplification.

Responsibilities
• Acts as mentor to product architects and provides technical leadership in several technical areas.
• Evaluates new technologies and sets a direction for future technology capability demands.
• Has ability to guide and create the end-to-end system design & development of a product.
• Researches, designs, plans, develops and / or evaluates new advanced network technologies by translating customer requirements or strategic business objectives into final product design.
• Work typically includes in-depth assessment of the customer's networked application needs, providing network modelling and simulation testing, consulting to further clarify needs, and engineering high-speed technology network transports to deliver application functionality.
• Designs, defines and implements integrated hardware / software systems requirements for customers and / or prepares studies and analyses existing systems.
• Determines system specifications, input / output processes and working parameters for hardware / software compatibility.
• Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system.
• Identifies, analyses and resolves programme support deficiencies.
• Develops and recommends corrective actions.
• Significantly influences strategic decisions in the professional area through expertise, in turn impacting the performance of the sub-function to create competitive advantage.
• Solves highly complex problems and develops original and innovative solutions with broad impact on the business.
• Monitors and guides professional developments and the strategy for a business-relevant organisational unit.
• Is an acknowledged and externally visible authority and strategic expert, typically within a key business function.
• Often leads projects with significant risk and complexity and develops project strategy.
Qualifications

Nice to have

  • Experience with cloud-native network functions (CNFs), Kubernetes-based deployments, and distributed/edge cloud architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with observability and operations tooling for carrier-grade systems.
  • Standards participation, patents, publications, or other recognized thought leadership in mobile core networking and automation.
