Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and a strategic partner to the President & CEO and Board of Directors, providing vision, leadership, and oversight of the organization's financial operations, systems, and reporting. The CFO will lead a team of approximately 15 employees across four departments — Finance and Accounting, Inventory, Organizational Excellence, and Technology and Data Reporting — and will play a central role in ensuring the financial infrastructure, controls, and reporting capabilities needed to support the organization's ambitious growth trajectory and mission impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic financial leadership as a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, directly supporting the President & CEO and Board of Directors in advancing the organization's vision to nearly double the number of people served.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a staff of approximately 15 employees across four departments: Finance and Accounting, Inventory, Organizational Excellence, and Technology and Data Reporting.

  • Direct and oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions, including:

    • Accounts payable and accounts receivable

    • Treasury management and cash flow oversight

    • Payroll administration

    • Grants management and compliance

    • Contracts management

    • Insurance and risk management

  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial statements, internal controls, and compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory and funder requirements

  • Lead annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and long-range financial planning in alignment with the organization's strategic growth goals.

  • Prepare and deliver clear, meaningful, and actionable financial presentations and analyses to Executive Management and the Board of Directors

  • Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and technology to support scalability as the organization grows.

  • Champion a strong internal control and risk management environment across the organization, including oversight of inventory-related financial controls.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including significant tenure in a senior finance executive role (CFO, VP of Finance, or similar)

  • Experience within a nonprofit, social enterprise, or other mission-driven organization of comparable scale and complexity.

  • Proven track record leading, developing, and retaining high-performing, multi-departmental teams.

  • Strong experience preparing and presenting financial information to Boards of Directors and senior executive audiences.

  • Exceptional analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insight for non-financial audiences.

  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and executive presence.

  • Unquestionable integrity, sound judgment, and discretion, with a genuine passion for the organization's mission and a commitment to data-driven impact.
