We’re looking for a Chief, Meteorology and Weather Risk to serves as Everbridge's principal authority and strategic leader on all matters relating to weather and climate risk. This senior-level role is responsible for shaping the company’s end-to-end approach to meteorological intelligence, spanning forecasting, analytics, client advisory services, and real-time alerting.
The successful candidate will guide Everbridge’s strategy for monetizing and operationalizing weather intelligence offerings to enhance customer resilience, support product innovation, and reinforce our leadership in risk-based decision support. This role demands not only deep expertise in meteorology and atmospheric science (preferably PhD-level), but also proven experience in customer engagement, strategic communication, and cross-functional leadership.
What you'll do
- Serve as the organization’s senior subject matter expert on all atmospheric and climatological risks, including extreme weather events, long-term climate trends, and environmental hazards.
- Design and lead Everbridge’s weather intelligence strategy, integrating predictive analytics, forecasting, and situational awareness into the company’s risk and resilience platforms.
- Define how weather and climate risk intelligence integrates into Everbridge’s overall critical event management framework, ensuring cross-domain synergy between natural hazard monitoring, threat intelligence, and business continuity services.
- Own the strategic roadmap for Everbridge’s weather-related offerings, collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to define features, data pipelines, and API integrations.
- Develop structured feedback channels with enterprise clients to refine forecasting accuracy, alert thresholds, and risk communication effectiveness.
- Collaborate with Global Insights, Product, Engineering, and Real-Time Monitoring teams to evolve Everbridge’s meteorological products and services.
- Act as a public-facing thought leader, presenting in webinars, leading industry panels, contributing to white papers, and representing Everbridge in key customer and public forums.
- Develop and deliver bespoke weather risk briefings for high-value customers, especially those in critical infrastructure, healthcare, energy, and logistics sectors.
- Partner with the Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to evangelize weather-related capabilities and shape client-facing messaging.
- Identify and pursue new monetization pathways for weather intelligence, including vertical-specific use cases and strategic partnerships. Quantify and report on the commercial impact of weather-risk products.
- Build and maintain a strong network across the meteorological and climate science communities, including academia, private sector forecasters, and national meteorological agencies.
- Advise corporate clients on resilience planning, seasonal risk outlooks, and operational readiness around severe weather and environmental hazards.
What you'll bring:
- Advanced degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or related field (PhD preferred).
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in meteorological forecasting, environmental risk management, or hazard intelligence, 6 years with a master’s degree, and 3 years with a PhD.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex meteorological data into actionable risk intelligence for executive-level stakeholders.
- Experience working with or advising critical infrastructure sectors and enterprise resilience teams.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with a track record of public speaking, media engagement, or academic publication.
- Deep understanding of weather modeling platforms, GIS-based hazard mapping, and real-time alerting tools.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong grasp of the evolving weather-tech landscape.
The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Everbridge ranges from $94,000 - $126,000 and may also include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
