If you enjoy working with kids and sharing the excitement of circus arts, Circus Camp is the place for you! The Skokie Park District is seeking energetic, creative, and confident Program Leaders (counselors) for Summer 2026.
Be reliable and be a leader. Bring a positive attitude and a willingness to communicate with parents, campers, and staff with professionalism. Internalize circus lesson plans, organize and set up equipment, demonstrate skills and techniques, and provide hands-on guidance to campers—encouraging confidence, creativity, and physical awareness. Support campers as they explore juggling, balance, acrobatics, aerials, clowning, and performance skills in a safe and supportive environment.Collaborate with fellow Program Leaders to ensure the safety and success of all campers. Plan and lead warm-ups, games, and circus-themed activities. Supervise transitions, water breaks, and any pool or outdoor time to promote safety. Foster teamwork, respect, and perseverance among campers, implementing age-appropriate behavior management techniques.
Hours:
Camp begins Monday, June 8, 2026, and runs through Friday, July 31, 2026. Hours are generally 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, but they may vary depending on camp needs. Must be available to attend camp training the week of May 30, 2026, exact dates and times to be determined.
QualificationsMust be a creative and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with children ages 8-11 years. Experience leading groups of children in art related activities preferred. Prior summer camp employment experience is a plus, but not necessary. Must possess excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Circus background and experience working in different acrobatic & clowning strongly desired, but not required.
Program Leaders are responsible for keeping equipment and camp spaces organized, clean, and safe at the end of each camp day. Duties include maintaining accurate records and reports. Program Leaders attend meetings and training as requested, and perform other duties as assigned.
