About Protocol Behavioral Health

Protocol provides cancer-specific behavioral health treatment to patients by partnering with oncology clinics and cancer centers. Oncology patients are at heightened risk of mental health disorders and suicide, and those conditions negatively impact patient outcomes, treatment adherence, and total cost of care. Our approach is designed to meet patients where they are: emotionally, logistically, and financially. We deliver high-quality mental health support for cancer patients using the collaborative care model, integrated directly into oncology treatment centers.

The team consists of experienced healthcare operators and executives who have built and scaled partnerships across behavioral health, oncology, and value-based care. We are a fast-growing, early-stage company focused on expanding access to care through strong partnerships with leading oncology providers.

About the Role

The Clinical Recruiter plays a pivotal role in building Protocol's clinical workforce by identifying, attracting, and hiring Behavioral Health Care Managers (BHCMs). This role owns full-cycle recruitment for our core clinical function, partnering closely with clinical leadership and operations to ensure we hire high-quality, mission-aligned clinicians efficiently and at scale.

Reporting to the Head of People, this individual will be a critical partner in scaling Protocol's ability to deliver care. This role is well-suited for a recruiter who thrives in fast-paced, mission-driven environments and has experience sourcing licensed behavioral health professionals.

In This Role You Will
  • Own full-cycle recruitment for Behavioral Health Care Manager (BHCM) roles, from sourcing and screening through offer and onboarding handoff

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to build a strong pipeline of licensed mental health clinicians (LCSWs, LPCs, LMFTs, psychologists, and pre-licensed candidates in target time zones)

  • Screen candidates for licensure status, clinical experience, cultural fit, and alignment with Protocol's collaborative care model

  • Partner with clinical and operations leadership to understand staffing needs, time-zone coverage gaps, and partner site requirements

  • Maintain accurate tracking of all candidates and pipeline activity in the ATS, ensuring data integrity and timely follow-up

  • Coordinate interview logistics, including scheduling with clinical leadership and managing candidate communications throughout the process

  • Manage offer processes in partnership with leadership, including compensation guidance, offer letter preparation, and candidate close

  • Support onboarding coordination by ensuring new hires have completed credentialing, background checks, and pre-start requirements

  • Build and maintain relationships with clinical training programs, social work schools, and behavioral health professional networks to develop evergreen talent pipelines

  • Track and report on recruiting metrics including time-to-fill, source effectiveness, pipeline health, and offer acceptance rates

  • Identify and implement process improvements to support scalable, efficient clinical hiring as Protocol grows

Who Are We Looking For?Required Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with at least 2 years focused on licensed behavioral health, clinical, or healthcare services roles

  • Demonstrated experience recruiting licensed mental health clinicians (LCSWs, LPCs, LMFTs, or similar); familiarity with state licensure requirements and multi-state licensing a strong plus

  • Experience working with an ATS (e.g. Ashyby, Greenhouse, Lever) with strong attention to pipeline data integrity

  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple open requisitions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent Protocol's mission authentically to clinical candidates

  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and building scalable processes in an early-stage environment

  • High level of ownership, urgency, and follow-through; ability to drive candidates and hiring managers through the process efficiently

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience recruiting for telehealth, collaborative care, or integrated behavioral health settings

  • Familiarity with oncology, chronic illness, or specialty medical environments

  • Experience building evergreen talent pipelines for high-volume or hard-to-fill clinical roles

  • Background in healthcare staffing, clinical operations, or people operations at a high-growth healthcare startup
