Description

SUMMARY

The CNC Horizontal Mill Machinist is responsible for the machining of products in order to meet customer specifications. Operation of the machining centers and medium to complex setups would be done by selecting and installing tooling, updating fixturing, and pulling CNC machining programs.  The work hours for 2nd shift is 3pm to 11:30 pm with overtime as required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be a team player as measured by his/her peers.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints/drawings and related technical data.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to operators and lower level machinists as required
  • Ability to perform minor preventative maintenance when necessary.
  • Ability to perform complex setups using fixtures and tools.
  • Ability to setup Tool Holders with cutting tools to the required specifications.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
  • Must be familiar with the machine controls and be able to perform setups of medium complexity.
  • Must be familiar with the Rotary and Indexing capability as the application applies to all the Machine Centers.
  • Use machine controls for proper feeds and speeds for maximum efficiency.
  • Optimize process to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Save updated programs, documents, and pictures
  • Clock in and off operations according to sequence number of the work order.
  • Check parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using approved methods of inspection.
  • Must be able to use all Standard Measurement Instruments such as: micrometers, height gages, calipers, inter-mics, bore gages, comparators, thread gages, gage pins etc. to measure the manufactured parts and assemblies.
  • Deburr work in process.
  • Share knowledge with peers Work in teams to troubleshoot manufacturing problems and perform quality assurance checks of work
  • Meet department goals and objectives in a timely manner.
  • Promote the company initiative of Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement projects and 5S implementation and sustainment.
  • Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
  • Adhere to company’s requirements for ISO9001:2008 and ISO13485:2003 certification and compliance.
  • Adhere to Safety and OSHA compliance.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four years’ experience either in a production or job shop environment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work order instructions.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T per ANSI Standards
  • Good understanding of setups and operation of Horizontal Machining Centers with Pallet Systems.
  • Familiarity with the Mazak Machining Centers is a plus.
  • Must be very well versed in four and five axis machining.
  • Must be able to take verbal and written instructions and work from handmade sketches.
  • Working knowledge of G-Code programming and machining practices.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read, write and speak basic English
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Scheduling and Shop Control planning system such as Epicor is a plus.

  • Journeyman’s card/Four-year apprenticeship program.
