KontrolFreek is looking for a Community and Social Media Specialist who doesn’t just manage channels—they understand attention is the most valuable currency in modern marketing. They know how to capture it, compound it, and convert it into lasting brand affinity.  You’ll operate at the front lines of culture representing the KontrolFreek brand, turning real-time moments into meaningful engagement. You’ll manage and grow our communities while creating and distributing content that feels native to each platform and relevant to the gaming ecosystem.

In this role, you will manage and grow our social channels and the KontrolFreek community by creating and distributing content that feels native to each platform and relevant to the gaming ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

Channel & Community Engagement

  • Own day-to-day management of KontrolFreek’s core social platforms (X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and support for Discord), ensuring consistent, high‑quality, platform‑native output.
  • Execute against a content calendar while leaving room for timely, reactive posts.
  • Engage directly with our community—responding to comments, replies, and DMs in a way that reflects our brand voice and builds loyalty.
  • Surface recurring questions, themes, or issues to the broader team.
  • Support and grow community spaces (e.g., Discord, FreekNation initiatives), fostering meaningful interaction and feedback loops between players and the brand.
  • Help organize community activations (UGC prompts, “best plays,” setup posts) and ensure they show up on social.
  • Maintain and evolve KontrolFreek’s tone of voice across platforms: competitive, a bit chaotic, but credible and player‑first.
  • Adapt voice to platform and context without losing the core brand personality.

Content Creation

  • Create and contribute to multiple original content pieces per day (short-form video, reactive posts, memes, simple graphics, copywriting), optimized for each platform’s algorithm and audience behavior.
  • Be comfortable being part of the content when needed (POV, voiceover, on-camera moments).
  • Actively identify trends, memes, conversations, and cultural moments in gaming and internet culture.
  • Quickly create or adapt content to capitalize on those moments in ways that feel authentic to KontrolFreek.
  • Monitor gaming and internet culture daily to ensure KontrolFreek is always relevant and part of the conversation, especially around key titles and genres (FPS, sports, open-world, cozy, etc.).
  • Identify opportunities to insert KontrolFreek into trending discussions in ways that feel clever and organic, not forced.

Cross-functional Collaboration and Amplification

  • Partner with regional teams to develop and amplify region-specific social accounts and campaigns, ensuring global consistency with local relevance.
  • Work closely with Influencer, Product and Sales teams to amplify product launches, creator campaigns, and big beats across social and community channels.
  • Repurpose top creator/affiliate content for KontrolFreek channels where usage rights allow.

Measurement & optimization

  • Track core performance metrics (reach, engagement, clicks, basic traffic/revenue signals) and extract actionable insights.
  • Share regular performance recaps with clear “what worked / what didn’t / what we’ll try next.”

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing social media accounts and/or online communities for a brand, creator, or org—ideally in gaming, esports, or adjacent youth culture.
  • Track record of publishing content that performs (you should be able to show posts or campaigns you’ve run and why they worked).
  • Deep understanding of the attention economy and how brands compete in feeds today.
  • Strong instincts for internet culture, gaming trends, and platform behaviors (especially TikTok, Instagram Reels, X, YouTube Shorts).
  • Comfortable creating short-form video (shooting, basic editing in mobile apps or simple tools).
  • Solid copywriting skills—hooks, captions, replies that feel human and on‑brand.
  • Meme fluency and basic graphic design skills (Canva/Adobe, etc.).
  • Willing and able to be part of the content at times (POV, reactions, voiceover; occasional on-camera appearances).
  • Moves quickly and confidently: you can spot an opportunity and execute content while it’s still relevant.
  • Proactive, not reactive: you don’t wait for briefs; you bring ideas and opportunities to the table.
  • Organized enough to juggle multiple posts, platforms, and conversations without dropping details.
  • Comfortable looking at performance data, understanding what it means, and adjusting content and timing accordingly.

Within first 30 days

  • Takeover / start to manage all KontrolFreek global social media accounts, posting, responding, replying to DMs, etc.
  • Establish posting cadence and process across channels with organic/UGC-style video content

Within first 60 days

  • Coordinate with other internal teams on relevant campaigns and activations
  • Maintain and seek out new relationships with Community VIPs across our target games
  • Create workflows of working with regional marketing teams on social content and campaign activations, ensuring they have content to publish (assets and copy)

Within first 90 days

  • Own all global social media platforms with daily content and community outreach/replies
  • Regularly report on social metrics and community sentiment in tandem with the social side of our team
  • Create daily UGC/meme-style content, keeping KF brand relevant in targeted communities with engaging content + finding unique ways to promote our products
  • Establish and continually iterate process of "what works best" as far as internal coordination with our team + relationship with other teams at the company
