Job Summary:

Allina Health’s Mental Health & Addiction service line is recruiting a collaborative Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist to join our inpatient consult-liaison team. In this role you will provide consultative psychiatric care to medically complex patients, work closely with multidisciplinary medical teams, and help shape system-level approaches to behavioral health integration in acute care. We seek an energetic clinician committed to excellent patient care, teamwork, and teaching/quality improvement initiatives.

Job Description:

As a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist at Allina Health, you will provide psychiatric consultation services to adult inpatients across our hospital network. Working closely with interdisciplinary care teams, you will assess and manage psychiatric conditions in medically complex patients, provide diagnostic clarification and treatment recommendations, conduct capacity evaluations, and support safe transitions of care. This role offers opportunities to participate in quality improvement initiatives, telepsychiatry services, and teaching activities within a large integrated health system. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide psychiatric consultations and follow-up care for adult inpatients. 

  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing, social work, case management, and behavioral health teams to develop treatment plans. 

  • Assess and manage conditions such as delirium, agitation, mood disorders, suicidality, substance-related disorders, and medication-related concerns. 

  • Conduct capacity evaluations and provide evidence-based treatment recommendations. 

  • Participate in telepsychiatry services and consultation improvement initiatives as needed. 

  • Engage in teaching and mentorship opportunities with learners and clinical staff. 

  • Contribute to quality improvement projects and care pathway development to enhance patient outcomes and care transitions. 

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine
  • Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in Psychiatry or foreign equivalency training
  • Consult liaison psychiatry fellowship preferred but not required

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required and psychiatric board certification within 2 years of hire upon hire
  • ACLS-BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required upon hire
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate required upon hire
  • Prescription Monitoring Program required upon hire
  • National Provider Identifier required upon hire

Physical Demands

Pay Range

Pay Range: $340,025 to $351,000 per year

The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
