Consulting Services, Marketing Internship (August 2026 Start)
Note to applicants:
Interns in the Consulting Services department of our organization will work out of the GACC Midwest office in Chicago. As such, applicants must either currently reside in the Greater Chicago Area or be available for relocation, before the start of the internship.
Compensation: $2900/month
Duration: 9-12 months
The mission of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest (GACC Midwest) is to promote and assist bilateral trade and investment between Germany and the United States. The Marketing Intern within our Consulting Services Department will work closely with our team on a variety of tasks, providing vital support for our social media, content creation, and client interaction efforts. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing and communications, with a focus on the B2B sector. The intern will assist in developing localized social media content, creating monthly LinkedIn posts, support in preparing social media reports, and participating in client meetings.
The ideal candidate will bring creativity, strong writing skills, and a proactive approach to managing multiple projects. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your marketing skills and gain exposure to international business practices.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist in creating social media strategies and developing monthly content plans for clients across various industries
- Design eye-catching original social media visuals tailored to a U.S. audience
- Produce a variety of digital marketing materials, including newsletters, brochures, flyers, and pitch decks
- Research and source imagery, including stock photos and visual assets
- Gain insights into copywriting and overall marketing processes
- Participate in client meetings to gain firsthand experience in communication, briefing, and project coordination
- Conceptualize and build basic websites and landing pages
What You Bring:
- Experience in using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign)
- Experience in designing original social media assets (static)
- A creative eye for layout, typography, and visual consistency
- High proficiency in English, with advanced German language skills required
- Strong organization and project management skills
- Solid understanding of web design principles with the ability to create simple websites and landing pages using common CMS platforms such as WordPress or TYPO3
- Photo and video editing skills are a plus
- Ability to write clear and engaging copy is a plus
