The company strategy is evolving and there is continued focus on increasing market share and driving the adoption of its highest priority advertising solutions across regions and verticals.  Pinterest is looking to build out a team of vertical content strategists to build and deliver targeted and effective content that highlights how Pinterest uniquely meets the needs of global advertisers and agencies.

As a Content and Vertical Strategy Lead, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing content strategies for Pinterest’s Global Sales Organization (GSO). This position involves creating and distributing highly relevant content tailored to specific verticals, ensuring deep industry relevance and impact at the company, solution, vertical, and regional levels. In this role, you will also contribute to developing commercial insights that will be integral to a new sales methodology, enhancing the effectiveness and precision of sales efforts. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including strategists, designers, copywriters, producers, and project managers, to deliver targeted, insights-driven content that aligns with Pinterest’s key verticals and geographic priorities. Additionally, you will work closely with the Sales training team to ensure they are fully equipped to leverage this content effectively in their efforts.

Reporting to the Director of Content Strategy, Development & Governance, this role requires a strategic, creative, collaborative, and influential leader with deep full-funnel advertising industry expertise, who can drive creative content development, operational rigor, cross-functional alignment, and global, inclusive thinking.

This position is ideally based in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, or Seattle. 


What you’ll do:

Strategic Content Development

  • Develop sales content strategy, including messaging, positioning, and value propositions tailored to business objectives, vertical, and regional needs. Identify content gaps, prioritize content development, and align resources.
  • Develop deep understanding of key vertical and regional business needs, and highly actionable insights about how Pinterest is uniquely positioned to address those needs.
  • Work with colleagues to navigate content production workflows.

Vertical Leadership

  • Identify experts across the organization and work collaboratively across teams to build vertical best practices.
  • Be the subject matter expert for the vertical / sector understanding industry business challenges and appropriately map to the relevantPinterest business solutions.
  • Conduct industry analysis to stay informed about trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities within the vertical, using these insights to drive strategic content initiatives.
  • Translate complex industry data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations, enabling the creation of content that resonates with target audiences and supports Pinterest’s business objectives within the vertical.

Stakeholder Management

  • Facilitate regular communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Product, and Leadership, to align on content priorities, objectives, and strategic direction.
  • Actively engage with stakeholders to gather feedback on content needs and effectiveness, ensuring a continuous feedback loop that informs ongoing content optimization and strategic adjustments.
  • Provide stakeholders with clear visibility into content strategy, development processes, and performance metrics through regular reports and presentations, enabling informed decision-making and fostering a sense of shared ownership.


What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years of experience in developing content for digital media and platforms within advertising-based business models.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of lower and full-funnel advertising, data, and measurement and insights into industry and cross-industry client trends. Previous experience with agencies, brands, or consultancies in this capacity is a plus.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams to generate compelling, insights-driven content that uniquely addresses customer needs and drives revenue.
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Marketing, Strategy, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record independently leading initiatives as an individual contributor while also managing complex content initiatives, managing multiple stakeholders, and ensuring teams deliver high-quality work on time.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic visions that align content initiatives with broader company goals, showcasing comprehensive strategic thinking.
  • Ready to enthusiastically embrace AI technology to create systems that deliver custom content at scale.

In-Office Requirement Statement:

  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from the Pinterest New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, or Seattle office.
