ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re searching for an experienced Brand & Content Strategy Manager to contribute to this mission by leading the ideation, creation and execution of editorial content across ShopRunner’s platforms, while acting as a champion and shepherd of our brand identity. 

This ideal candidate is a true creative at heart -- a born storyteller whose experience and business acumen gives them a strategic edge. 

The core function of this role will require a creative visionary who will lead the curated development and publication of digital content across ShopRunner platforms and in partnership with retailers. The goal of this position is to create engaging content to promote the ShopRunner brand, driving customer acquisition, accelerating brand awareness, and improving brand affinity.  This role requires a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, project management, and cross functional relationship management. 

ShopRunner is intrinsically a two-sided business, B2B in that we equip top retailers (Bloomingdale’s, Saks, Neiman Marcus, etc.) with technical capabilities and access to select customers to fuel their e-commerce businesses, and B2C in that we offer our millions of members access to free 2-day shipping and returns, plus exclusive perks at our network of 100+ retailers. 
The Brand Marketing team spearheads the B2C marketing efforts in promoting ShopRunner to our members. From brand strategy and standards, to PR and sponsorships, this subsection of the marketing team encompasses all consumer facing marketing efforts, ensuring that we speak directly to our members and prospective members through an engaging lens. This role will work with the Director of Marketing, Manager of Brand Marketing and a copywriter to develop creative strategy and planning for brand and content marketing campaigns.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

  • Lead the ideation, creation and execution of editorial and promotional content laddering up to cross-platform campaigns promoting the ShopRunner brand and driving customer acquisition and retention.
  • Lead the creation of year-long creative content arcs, identifying key editorial themes throughout the year that will live across ShopRunner owned and operated platforms. 
  • Work with the Director to lead brand strategy, development and standards as we continually evolve the way in which ShopRunner is represented externally. 
  • Work to continually develop and improve the ShopRunner voice and brand identity.
  • Work closely with creative agencies to develop and evolve consumer facing efforts to ensure the brands/initiatives are being well represented in all elements and executions.
  • Partner with the Brand Marketing Manager to develop a cohesive, effective and  impactful social media presence. 
  • Produce editorial content both independently and in partnership with freelance creatives and the in-house copywriter. 
  • Lead and contribute to creative brainstorms for both specific and overarching marketing initiatives that promote the ShopRunner brand, both for partner agnostic campaigns and in co-marketing efforts with our credit card or retail partners. 
  • Act as point of contact with various external and internal stakeholders, providing creative direction, approvals and feedback.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 5-7+ years of work experience in the multi-channel content creation and brand strategy. Experience in social media, tech and ecommerce a plus.
  • Talented and proven writer with brand advancement knowledge and editorial skills.
  • Both a player and a coach with the ability to lead and inspire freelance content creators as well as create content themselves to achieve the company's stated goals.
  • Skill at both long-form content creation and real-time content creation and distribution strategies and tactics.
  • The ability to understand the consumer journey, intuitively understanding what the audience needs to know and how they will bet consume it.
  • A leader with a strategic mindset. You understand the business goal behind the creation of a piece (or series) of content and are constantly optimizing your efforts based on learnings.
  • A proactive contributor who can independently create, manage, and drive forward a project involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage editorial schedules, deadlines and creative calendars.
  • Incredible influence and collaboration skills.
  • Creativity, a passion for storytelling/content, and an interest in fashion and retail.
  • Skilled in Google Slides/Powerpoint is a must, Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Basic technical understanding of HTML, XHTML, CSS, Java, web publishing, Flash, etc. a plus.
  • An entrepreneurial and scrappy approach (i.e. “no job is not my job” attitude), willing to roll up your sleeves and find creative ways to get things done.
