About the role

We're looking for an experienced Commercial Contracts Consultant to help shape how enterprise contract intelligence work is delivered.

This is not a traditional contract review or paralegal role. We're looking for someone who can engage directly with enterprise clients, understand their contract operations and business priorities, and translate those requirements into scalable processes, guidance, and quality standards for delivery teams.

You'll act as the bridge between our client and our delivery organization, ensuring contract review and annotation work is accurate, consistent, and aligned with business objectives.

What you'll do
  • Conduct a defined set of discovery sessions with enterprise clients and produce a requirements summary translating findings into review objectives and risk priorities.
  • Translate client requirements into structured annotation guidelines, review playbooks, and operating procedures.
  • Define standards for clause interpretation, tagging, and exception handling to ensure consistent execution.
  • Collaborate with internal AI tools to accelerate the development and refinement of review guidelines.
  • Design training materials, competency assessments, and certification programs for analysts supporting client engagements.
  • Design a documented QA framework and calibration methodology for delivery teams to implement and own.
  • During the guideline development period, hold scheduled clarification sessions to resolve edge cases and incorporate resolutions into the written playbook
  • Serve as subject matter expert during the discovery and guideline-development phase, providing documented recommendations that delivery leadership can reference going forward

RequirementsWhat We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial contracting, contract management, contract lifecycle management (CLM), contract intelligence, or legal operations.
  • Hands-on experience creating contract playbooks, clause libraries, templates, or review guidelines.
  • Experience leading client discovery workshops and gathering requirements from enterprise stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to convert ambiguous business requirements into clear written guidance and operational processes.
  • Experience developing training materials, assessments, or certification programs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) platforms such as Ironclad, Icertis, Agiloft, DocuSign CLM, Conga, or Sirion.
  • Experience with legal AI, contract intelligence, clause extraction, annotation, or training data development.
  • Experience supporting AI-enabled contract review workflows.
  • Experience working with outsourced or offshore delivery teams.
  • Background in instructional design or enablement.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or paralegal background (preferred)
   Ideal Background

You'll likely be successful in this role if you've worked as a:

  • Commercial Contracts Manager
  • Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) Consultant
  • Legal Operations Manager
  • Contract Operations Manager
  • Contract Intelligence Specialist
  • Commercial Counsel
  • Contract Management Consultant
  • Enterprise Contract Manager
Work Engagement details
  • Type: Independent Contractor (1099 contract role, U.S.-based)
  • Time commitment: 10 hours per week
  • Project duration: 3 months
