About the Role:
Verifiable is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to join our growing finance team. The ideal candidate has a passion for building scalable financial operations within a fast-paced startup environment. You will play a crucial role in mentoring our accounting team and driving the strategic direction of the finance function.

About You
- 8-12+ years of experience, with at least 3-5 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
- Deep understanding of GAAP, particularly ASC 606 revenue recognition for SaaS
- Strong experience with month-end/quarter-end close processes and financial reporting
- Proficiency in implementing and optimizing financial systems (ERP, billing systems, AP systems
- Experience managing and mentoring a small finance team
- Strong technical accounting skills, including preparation of audit-ready financial statements
- Experience with sales tax, income tax, and other compliance requirements for a growing SaaS company
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Proactive and takes ownership of processes and outcomes, identifying inefficiencies and proposing scalable solutions
- Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment
- Strong ethical compass and commitment to financial integrity
- Experience managing revenue schedules for multiple products or unique deal structures (e.g., 2-3 year deals with varied invoicing schedules) for enterprise customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and optimize the month-end and quarter-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, specifically ASC 606 revenue recognition for multi-product SaaS, and prepare for external audits.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team as the company grows.
- Drive the strategic direction of the accounting function by partnering with other teams such as Legal, Product, RevOps, Engineering, etc.
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls and policies to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Lead and improve our month-end process to ensure we are timely and accurately closing the books.
- Review our internal operations and prepare a project plan to get us audit-ready.
- Lead new initiatives to drive down our DSO and AR balance by XX%.
